Hey,

which names do you prefer for a girl and boy? also open to any new suggestions!

Girl:
Paisley Mae or Saylor/Sayla Rose

Boy:
Heath Landon or Oliver (Ollie) James

I really don't like either of the girls names, sorry OP. Saylor in particular because it makes me thing of the baddie in the Heroes series a few years ago (Syler).

I don't like Heath Landon either - Oliver James is the only name I like.

But that's because I like traditional "proper" names, and none of the others fall into that category IMO. I don't like names that you forever have to spell for people.

DOn't like Saylor/Sayla (sounds just like Sailor - not good)
Don't like Paisley (dodgy 70s fabric pattern and Rev. Ian)

Heath Landon/Oliver James - either are good.

Oliver James is a cut-price "Jewellery" shop here.

Are you in the UK? Your girls names are quite American sounding and I guess there are different tastes in names in the US. I have to say they're not my cup of tea.

Heath Landon is quite strong sounding. If i had to choose one out of them all, its the one I'd go for.

Honest? The girls names are ridiculous. Possibly in the top 10 worst I've seen on here. Heath is not my taste but ok, Oliver and James are fine.

Girls names are awful, as is Heath.

Oliver is nice.

Your boys names are nice but your girls names are a bit on the silly side.

Still18atheart · 25/10/2013 14:58

Not keen on either girls names TBH

Heath Landon is just about ok. I personally wouldn't use it but can see why others would

Really like Oliver James

I know a grown up Paisley! She is absolutely fab, gorgeous, popular and successful. Sad that so many people are afraid of anything vaguely different or quirky.

sonlypuppyfat · 25/10/2013 15:11

Different and quirky are not the same as daft.

I like Heath Landon (Is Landon a family name? Not heard it before.)

Oliver is too popular for me, and I'm afraid I don't like any of your girls names.

Heath is nice but I don't think Landan works for a middle name. Makes it sounds like an estate agency. Heath Oliver or Heath James or even Heath James Landan is good. I think you need to stick a name in between Heath and Landan.

Paisley-Mae is quite sickly sweet to my ear. Paisley, whilst not to my taste could work as a name on its own. Sayla/Saylor = no. Taylor is a preferable alternative.

Love Oliver and the Oliver James combo is very classic, although it is a jewellers so maybe not the best.

Girls names are awful.sorry.

Oliver is dull,Heath is nice.

I really like Paisley, and Sailor spelt that way. Middle names are way too mainstream for my personal tastes.

Heath Landon is not my style, but I would choose it over the way-too-popular Oliver and James.

Sorry, but I'm not keen. Hyphenated names don't appeal and Mae seems to be every other baby girl's middle name at the moment. Saylor sounds like sailor and there will be a lot of teasing. Paisley is a town in Scotland and Heath Landon sounds like a Hollywood sleb.

To me, Oliver is so boring it may as well not exist.
I wouldn't chose Paisley myself but I quite like it.
I don't like Saylor but I can't really say why other than the obvious that it sounds like Sailor.
I have a huge crush on the name Heath!

CarryOnDancing · 25/10/2013 19:03

Sorry-forgot, I really really dislike Mae as it's so popular, and Rose is lovely but just so popular as a mn that it just seems like a filler.

I'm not sure if you actually planning to use hyphens or if you've just written them like that. I dislike hyphened names massively, but for a boy it is just wrong.

Angria · 25/10/2013 19:17

Sorry but Saylar Rose sounds like a Victorian lady of the night and it sounds like sailor however you spell it.

Don't like Paisley Mae or Heath

Report
meditrina · 25/10/2013 19:21

I really wouldn't call a girl 'sailor' in any variant spelling.

Paisley is the town to me, and I would expect a human called this to be a boy.

I prefer Oliver to Heath.

I like quirky names, but this time I'm with all the others who only like Oliver James.

The others feel made up and likely to date (unless you're in the US or Canada, where you're more likely to get away with it).

all dreadful sorry.

Think the girls names sound incredibly common, in the more tattoos than teeth sense rather than over used sense.

Heath Lardon? It's what I immediately thought.

Oliver James ok but a bit meh!!

Report
Rhubarbgarden · 25/10/2013 19:51

Girls names - just no.

Heath is nice but not Landon. Oliver James is ok.

Heath - I love this name.

Oliver - Boring, I think the Oliver quota has been well and truly filled for another 50 years.

Paisley - a really grim, down on its luck city next to Glasgow. (apologies any Paisley residents).

Saylor/Sayla - NO!

Report
TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 25/10/2013 20:49

Oliver James is a rent a gob pop psychologist who think mums shouldn't use daycare so that would put me off Grin

I like Sailor (spelled that way) - Christie Brinkley has a daughter with that name.

I like paisley the fabric - not sure about it as a name.

It would be Sailor Rose or Heath Landon if those were my choices.

BTW
Ignore rude people - you always find them here - I don't go up to people who call their child a top 10 name and say 'what the fuck are you thinking - have you NO imagination?'

Report
Putitonthelist · 25/10/2013 20:49

Oliver James is the only name I like.

Girls names are awful especially Saylor and the name Heath is just bleugh!
