I know a twenty two year old and a five year old called Hendrix, both are really nice, great name.

I also know a couple of boys called Dury.

TiredyCustards Fri 13-Sep-13 16:42:36

I wouldn't do it, but it's quite cool.

DH was dead set on Zappa for about a week.

NatashaBee Fri 13-Sep-13 17:00:30

I really like it, but if your kid grows up liking teen pop he may hate you grin

Meglet Fri 13-Sep-13 17:03:28

A big yes as a middle name.

Not sure if it's just a bit too much for a first name though.

EsTutMirLeid Fri 13-Sep-13 17:05:15

No it's awful, sorry but if you must have it make it a middle name.

KingRollo Fri 13-Sep-13 17:05:24

Kaluki Fri 13-Sep-13 17:09:39

Ugh no!
Like the poster above said its trying too hard to be cool! It's like patsy and Liam calling their son Lennon - really naff!!

Zoe789 Fri 13-Sep-13 17:12:18

I prefer it to Henry as I'm so bored with those boring names, but even so I'd be embarrassed calling out Hendrix in Tesco. I'm too conservative in my appearance (not views!) but you have to be a bit quirky to get away with Hendrix. JMO

mignonette Fri 13-Sep-13 17:13:02

Please, no.

kelda Fri 13-Sep-13 17:13:06

I know three Hendricks.

dirtyface Fri 13-Sep-13 17:16:49

yeah i was worried it might seem to try hard to be cool

we are fairly unconventional though grin

Sorry, but I think it is terrible. It's the sort of name that 'celebs' who are trying to sound all 'way out and cool' would choose. Awful imho.

JamieandtheMagicTorch Fri 13-Sep-13 17:35:13

Oh give over.

dirtyface Fri 13-Sep-13 17:37:02

nice jamie

no need to be spiteful :/

JamieandtheMagicTorch Fri 13-Sep-13 17:42:00

I was going for a jokey 1970's tone. Failed, obviously. Sorry

was it worse that - Ugh No! or Please No. Or it's awful?

dirtyface Fri 13-Sep-13 17:47:05

aww s'ok

very bit over sensitive atm blush

yeah somehow it was worse than either of those grin

Zoe789 Fri 13-Sep-13 17:48:46

Dirtyface, the child isn't named yet!

Talk me through 'unconventional' though. Are you a potter? Do you live in a yert? Do you home school!?

Zoe789 Fri 13-Sep-13 17:50:36

x post! i'm joking here btw. I fear I'm conventional shock

dirtyface Fri 13-Sep-13 17:52:04

erm no none of those zoe

i dont know how to say this without sounding pretentious

but we are quite rocky types and dh is a musician

MortifiedAdams Fri 13-Sep-13 17:53:38

Id think youd seriously missed the gin while pg

dirtyface Fri 13-Sep-13 17:54:31

posted too soon, meant to add>>

so i feel it would suit our family iyswim

our other dcs have quite uncommon names as well, and dd is named after a song

MrsWelly Fri 13-Sep-13 17:59:42

It's one of those names I secretly really love! But my opinion is not to be trusted because my son is called Lennon...

forcookssake Fri 13-Sep-13 18:00:29

I think it's cool, but I think it suffers a bit by ending in 'x' - it reminds me of Jackson>>Jaxon and other 'modern' names <ponders>
Also, future child would be forever saying "yeah, Hendrix, like Jimmy... yeah my parents thought he was cool..."
However, in a similiar vein, I've been thinking about Cohen blush

Zoe789 Fri 13-Sep-13 18:02:54

ah well then :-| go ahead!

Will we read it soon? Gwen Stefani's next baby is called Hendrix!

Hendrix goes with Kingston but not with Zuma.
