I can't find it - it wasn't that long ago... Oh well

My suggestions are:

Robyn
Lyra
Anita
Stevie

I think there was quite a recent thread on here under baby names called something like tell me a girl's name I won't have heard of before. Good luck!

JamieandtheMagicTorch Sun 28-Jul-13 12:11:24

Isn't Cheska someone on Made in Chelsea? (don't watch it, it might put me off)

It is short for Francesca

Can I suggest another thread here on Baby Names for unusual ones - I'll go and search for it and link for you

Goooooooooooooooooooooood Sun 28-Jul-13 12:11:14

I really like it and wouldn't worry about people thing it is a shortened version of Francesca.
It's unusual but strait forward IYSWIM

I also wouldn't worry about your sister liking Francesca - it would be very very silly of her to mind and she may be delighted you chose it.

Onyabike Sun 28-Jul-13 12:10:57

If you love it, and your sister is not having any more children (quite a relevant fact I think!), then I don't see a problem in using it.

spottygoat Sun 28-Jul-13 12:05:01

Ah shit, i totally love it!

My sister won't be using it as she's not having anymore, I just felt bad about it.

Actually my MIL thought it was Jessica so you have a good point there.

Anyone got a link to a good list of unusual names?

StrawberryMojito Sun 28-Jul-13 10:10:05

I would presume short for Francesca and I'm not keen. I'd leave it to your sister to use Francesca which is v nice.

I would automatically assume Francesca

Wbdn28 Sun 28-Jul-13 09:44:20

Yes I'd assume it was short for Francesca. You might have to keep saying "no, not Jessica" to people too.

Layl77 Sun 28-Jul-13 09:32:20

I would think it's from Francesca

BlueStarsAtNight Sun 28-Jul-13 09:23:19

Also if people just hear Cheska rather than see it written I reckon a lot of people will hear it as Jessica.

BlueStarsAtNight Sun 28-Jul-13 09:21:44

I would definitely assume it was short for Francesca. If you know it would upset your sister then I would keep looking, unless that's literally the only name in the world you can imagine using.

Jemma1111 Sun 28-Jul-13 08:59:14

I wouldn't use it , there are thousands of other girls names to choose from !

Onyabike Sun 28-Jul-13 08:49:43

Yes, I would assume it was from Francesca as I know a Francesca that goes by this shortened version.
Difficult one re your sister. Only you know whether she would get over it if you used it. I would probably talk to her and go from there.

Congratulations!

I would, sorry sad

spottygoat Sun 28-Jul-13 08:40:13

We already have 2 little girls and they don't have run of the mill names. We have struggled to find a name we agree on and both love.

DH has come up with Cheska, what do you think?

It goes very well with our dd's names. Would you just presume its short for Francesca? Ive also only just found out that Francesca is my sisters favourite name for a girl so I feel abit shit about using the shortened version.
