I'm trying to find a nice oldfashioned name for boy and girl but my husband is French and we live in France so I need to have a Uk view on the names Scarlett and Rhys. Am I totally off track or would they work?
Our other children are called Miles and Abigail.
We're also looking at Rose and Ruby or Scott and Edgar.
I'm having so much trouble I need your help!

If you say Scarlett with a French accent, isn't the sound pretty similar to "Charlotte"?

I know a girl who has a sister called Saphire. Any good?

Audrey is a good English name known and used by the French.

Scarlett is lovely. My friend named her now 16yo it as she loved Gone With the Wind as a teen.

Scarlett is really lovely smile although for some reason I can't visualise a blonde Scarlett!

I have a blonde Scarlett! I would agree with what others said about it being a name for strong character. It was a gamble, but DD has lived up to her moniker in spirit pretty much from Day 1...... grin

Scarlett is a great name! And I really like Rhys but I live in Wales! I actually think its not as welshy as some names like Gruffydd for a boy or myfanwy for a girl. As in most English speakers wouldn't struggle with how to pronounce it, although not sure how it would sound in French

Other suggestions

Martha
Charlotte
Molly
Georgina
Tabitha

Arthur
Rory
Owen
Edward
Damian

Scarlett was ruined for me when I lived in NZ and on Shortland St (NZs answer to casualty but on every night) there was a character called Scarlett but was teased and called Scablett.

I like Rose and Edgar

I have a blonde Scarlett too. We are definitely not chavvy.

Not keen on Scarlett sorry..becoming very common and it just doesn't sound very nice to me anyway.

Jannines baby is named Scarlett on Eastenders. I'd avoid.

Scarlett is a beautiful name I think - if we have a daughter, I'll be pushing DP to call her that (but I don't think I'm allowed hmm )
