Baby names

Aaaaargh GIRLS name :(

I'm going (possible pregnancy led) bonkers!!!!

I've put so many posts on here, so many shortlists & had to delete the recent (most helpful) one because in my baby brained state I revealed my highly unusual surname.

I just loathe virtually all girls names :( and those I do like, DH detests :( he's French...that's important in our choice.

Please help us pick before baby arrives!!

Current short list = Aurora, Isolde, Jasmine or Juliette. I accept that Juliette is the most mainstream of those & therefore likely to be the favourite but I'm concerned it's becoming popular v fast plus I don't like the fact it means 'little Julie' (has to be the French version). None of our short list names feel 'perfect'.

Also v open to other suggestions I might like based on that short list - please think outside the box!!!

Thank you so much, someone has to be able to figure this out for me!

Hmmm... I'm not keen on Juliette and Jasmine. Becoming more common and I think the others are much more imaginative.
Are you looking for French names then?

Either French (but I've not found any french names I've really clicked with yet) or something that will sound good with our famillies' French accents.

For example, I also like Emerald, Autumn and Delilah...but all sound awful in French

I'm having the same problem!!

But I need to pick 2 girl names (in case twins are girls), I want something Russian and DH is picky. We short listed yesterday and now we're back to square one!

I like Jasmine but I do quite like Isolde!

Julianna, Esme, Rene, Celeste, Francesca, Erica.

Sorry if these are all crap but my friend used to be an au pair in France so trying to recall some names.

Josephine/Josephina - bit old fashioned but could be shortened easily (Jo/Josie) and sounds beautiful with a french accent.

Or Reina. Clementine. Maelys.
Love Isolde out of your short list.

Amelie - please don't slate if "too popular" as my daughters name

BoyMeetsWorld · 27/06/2013 20:14

Amelie is a beautiful name - I love the film, so that helps. The "popular" thing is just a matter of personal taste - I think because I was one of many with the same name in all my classes growing up!!! So for me I want something outside of the top 50...possibly even outside the top 100. Which is a shame as we both loved Emilia but then it became very very popular. But your DD's name is lovely :)

One of the teens who helps out at one of dd's clubs is called Joely. It has really grown on me. Maybe because she's lovely.

I love Aurora it's so pretty!

Aurora is my personal favourite, though I don't think it's v popular on Mumsnet (too Disney apparently Confused). DH however only really likes it spelt the French way - Aurore - which I'm far less keen on...

sigh
