I've brought this up before, but I want more opinions.

It might be creeping back on the list,I love the sound of the name, and Hedy Lamarr was pretty inspirational,so....

I really like it.

Her full name was Hedwig, and HP might have reclaimed that name far enough.

Hedy by itself might lead to sexual teasing.

Hedy? Really??

It's awful.

Yes,I knew her full name....it's a shame really...Hedwig is kinda cool.

And yup,I was concerned about the 'head' connotations...ah well, off the list again.

I like it-hedy lamarr was a very clever and beautiful woman. I love the name veronica-it was my grandfathers nickname for me as I always used to have my hair like hers over one eye.

Awful name IMHO, sounds made up and like Head.

Although Hedwig3 your name is fabulous!

I really don't like it either - sorry. How about Hetty (Henrietta)? Almost the same sound but without the connotations.

I went to school with a Hedy. It was pronounced 'Hay-d'. I suppose that's how Hedy Lamarr pronounced it? I always thought it was rather elegant and she was proud that she wasn't a Heidi; a name which seems to be gaining in popularity amongst some MN circles.

Hedi, pronounced hay d, as pp said. Short for Hedvig. I know a lovely one so only has wonderful connotations for me. How about Hermina if you like h names?

I work with a very nice Dutch Hedy. It's her actual name, not short for anything. I didn't think anything inappropriate about it, just a name.

Shouldn't it be Heddy anyway? Not Hedy.
