What comes to your head when you hear piper?

I love it, other half.. Not so much, I'm sure there is room for persuasion though... smile

TooTiredToBeCreative Tue 21-May-13 16:05:18

I like it, makes me think of tv programme Charmed!

Caitycat Tue 21-May-13 16:06:56

Doesn't feel like a first name to me, I just think of Billie Piper.

TanteRose Tue 21-May-13 16:09:07

The actress, Piper Laurie (Carrie's mum in the original film)

Onesleeptillwembley Tue 21-May-13 16:11:00

Bloke in a kilt blowing, certainly not a name.

First thought? A big hefty ruddyfaced scotsman blowing a goat skin.

Not great.

KittenofDoom Tue 21-May-13 16:17:06

What Bunny said.

Other than that, it's a surname. Horrible used as a first name.

IslaValargeone Tue 21-May-13 16:19:28

Piper Laurie
Love the name.

Blanketsandpillows Tue 21-May-13 16:19:58

It sounds very American to me (probably because of 'Charmed'). I don't dislike it...

Piper Alpha and that tragic oil rig explosion.

ChewingOnLifesGristle Tue 21-May-13 16:23:08

Not keen sorry. It makes me think of a big bloke in a kilt with bagpipes.

Choccyhobnob Tue 21-May-13 16:33:27

It is a very American name to me - not that that's bad, I actually love it but not sure I could use it just because it would be too 'out there' for my oh!

Themobstersknife Tue 21-May-13 16:36:10

I think of champagne.
<posh>

OrlaKiely Tue 21-May-13 16:38:11

I like it smile

It makes me think of a horse I had called Piper smile

It's a nice name

Floggingmolly Tue 21-May-13 16:49:05

It's a bird with thin, gangly legs.

TWinklyLittleStar Tue 21-May-13 16:50:19

I think Gillian Anderson called her daughter Piper, way back when. She must be, what, nearly 20 now? As I'm quite a big fan of GA the name has grown on me a lot.

Decoy Tue 21-May-13 17:04:15

Piper Alpha oil rig.

TenthMuse Tue 21-May-13 17:26:28

It makes me think of a novel called 'How I Live Now', which features a lovely character called Piper. Do think it sounds very American though.

MrsBrownstone Tue 21-May-13 17:29:38

I too think of Piper from Charmed. I like it but it's probably something I'd call a pet.

CoolStoryBro Tue 21-May-13 17:36:37

Ds 2's girlfriend. It really suits her. Bright, very pretty and just the right side of feisty.

polkadotsrock Tue 21-May-13 17:36:55

Charmed. But I love it for a girl- is it for a girl or boy OP?

ipswitch Tue 21-May-13 17:36:55

Sounds like somewhere in the shipping forecast to me.

TheRealFellatio Tue 21-May-13 17:37:37

I love it. I met a girl called Piper once - she'd be about 38 now. Lovely name.

TheRealFellatio Tue 21-May-13 17:37:58

She was English too - not American.
