What comes to your head when you hear piper?

I love it, other half.. Not so much, I'm sure there is room for persuasion though... Smile

Doesn't feel like a first name to me, I just think of Billie Piper.

The actress, Piper Laurie (Carrie's mum in the original film)

Bloke in a kilt blowing, certainly not a name.

BunnyLebowski · 21/05/2013 16:15

First thought? A big hefty ruddyfaced scotsman blowing a goat skin.

Not great.

KittenofDoom · 21/05/2013 16:17

What Bunny said.

Other than that, it's a surname. Horrible used as a first name.

Piper Laurie
Love the name.

It sounds very American to me (probably because of 'Charmed'). I don't dislike it...

Piper Alpha and that tragic oil rig explosion.

Not keen sorry. It makes me think of a big bloke in a kilt with bagpipes.

It is a very American name to me - not that that's bad, I actually love it but not sure I could use it just because it would be too 'out there' for my oh!

It makes me think of a horse I had called Piper Smile

It's a nice name

Report
Floggingmolly · 21/05/2013 16:49

It's a bird with thin, gangly legs.

I think Gillian Anderson called her daughter Piper, way back when. She must be, what, nearly 20 now? As I'm quite a big fan of GA the name has grown on me a lot.

Piper Alpha oil rig.

It makes me think of a novel called 'How I Live Now', which features a lovely character called Piper. Do think it sounds very American though.

I too think of Piper from Charmed. I like it but it's probably something I'd call a pet.

Ds 2's girlfriend. It really suits her. Bright, very pretty and just the right side of feisty.

Charmed. But I love it for a girl- is it for a girl or boy OP?

Report
ipswitch · 21/05/2013 17:36

Sounds like somewhere in the shipping forecast to me.

I love it. I met a girl called Piper once - she'd be about 38 now. Lovely name.

She was English too - not American.
