No siblings and a pretty generic last name. My husband and I both agree that these are our top four choices, but our favourites are different. I'd love to get some outside opinions on them.

Boys Names:

  • Elliott Nicholas M.
  • Logan James M.
  • Oliver Jack M.
  • Zachary Owen M.

Girls Names:
  • Aubrey Faye M.
  • Daphne Nichole M.
  • Emily Paige M.
  • Olivia Marilyn M.

Elliot Nicholas and Aubrey Faye.

Elliott Nicholas

Emily Paige or Olivia (not keen on Marilyn - unless it's a family name)

Zachary, Oliver, Elliot then Logan. Emily, Olivia, Daphne and lastly Aubrey. Which I can't help thinking I've heard as a boys name somewhere, though god knows where!

Owen and Oliver are my favourites from the boys' names.
I like Faye but Aubrey is awful.
Olivia Marilyn probably the best girls' combo. Daphne Nicole is a bit 70s imho.

My husband's favourites are:

Boys:
Logan James & Zachary Owen (in that order)
Girls:
Aubrey Faye & Emily Paige

I am quite over Aubrey, if I am honest. Although I love all of the boys names, my favourites are:

Boys:
Elliott Nicholas & Oliver Jack
Girls:
Daphne Nichole & Olivia Marilyn

I also quite like another couple that aren't on the list (mostly Phoebe) but I promised my husband I wouldn't add anymore.

You can see why this is so difficult!

Boys Names:

  • Elliott Nicholas - Nice
  • Logan James - not keen on Logan
  • Oliver Jack - Both names too over-used, especially together, and really dislike Ollie
  • Zachary Owen - my favourite, Zac is such a great name for boy/teen/adult, and love Owen too.

Girls Names:
  • Aubrey Faye - not keen on Aubrey, and dislike Faye
  • Daphne Nichole - love Daphne, prefer Nicole spelling but great combo
  • Emily Paige - love Paige as a mn, but Emily a bit boring for me
  • Olivia Marilyn - love Marilyn as middle name but Olivia is over-used for me. They do sound nice together though.

All your name choices are perfectly nice names, but my favourites would be Zachary and Daphne.

Don't tell the husband, but I've just added Phoebe Madeline to the mix! I promised we'd keep it to four names each, so I may be using my veto on Aubrey (although I feel badly about that because it is his favourite).

I had no idea that Oliver Jack was a popular name! Although, it being popular won't put me off necessarily.

The only Aubreys I have ever met have been male. Maybe it can be unisex but just so you are aware that some people will assume it to be a boys' name

Phoebe Madeleine is nice, as is Zachary Owen.

Aubrey is a boys' name, though I think there is an (unusual) feminine form, Aubree. Or of course you could always use Audrey.

Agree Aubrey is masculine. Are you thinking Audrey? Phoebe is best for a girl, Emily second but dislike Paige. Oliver from the boys though a bit done. Logan is AWFUL, though if you flipped it James Logan sounds good.

Phoebe Madeleine and daphne are nice. All boys ok apart from Logan .

Phoebe Madeleine is lovely, Madeleine is a lovely first name as well. I would agree with the others that Aubrey is more commonly a boys name.

Aubrey is a grandmother's name, which is where it came from. But explaining that it is more a masculine name may help sway my husband away from it. Thanks!

And in case anyone was wondering, I did mean to spell it Madeleine*

There is an American pop singer (female) called Aubrey, but I always think of Aubrey Beardsley (male).

Love phoebe Madeleine!

Aubrey is definitely a male name. I suspect it may have been given to a few girls in misunderstanding for Audrey and then copied from there. There's no connection between the two names other than they rhyme.

I think it sounds better with a vowel in the middle name with non vowel surname.

Ie Zachary Owen M or Phoebe Emily M

Or Aubrey as middle name if family connections

So I would have Zachary Aubrey or Daphne Aubrey ( so Aubrey used regardless of sex)

Elliott Nicholas M - I like Elliot a lot, Nicholas is ok
Logan James M. - Not keen on Logan, like James a lot
Oliver Jack M. - Love Oliver, like Jack, but both too popular for my taste
Zachary Owen M. - like both of these, but Zach is quite popular.

Aubrey Faye M. - Truly awful and a boys name, Faye is ok.
Daphne Nichole M.- Not keen on either
Emily Paige M. - Emily is nice, not keen on Paige
Olivia Marilyn M. - Olivia is lovely. Marilyn is quite dreadful.
Phoebe - LOVE
Madeleine - it's a lovely name, but still makes me think of Madeleine McCann.

I'd choose Elliot James and Phoebe Olivia.

Agree I only know Aubrey as a male name. Apparently it is traditionally male, but is more commonly used as a feminine name in the United States, so unless you're in the US I would steer clear. Everyone will assume you've mispelled Audrey (which is lovely, by the way).

It's a great name though, why not make it the male choice?

Aubrey Oliver
Logan Aubrey
Elliott Aubrey

Of the existing ones my favourite by miles is Zachary Owen, both strong, interesting and not too popular names.

Daphne, Phoebe and Marilyn (and Audrey) are all lovely, Paige, Emily and Faye I'm not wild about but they make nice middle names, I would steer clear of Olivia just because it has been so popular over the last five or six years and I don't think it's a great idea to be on the end of a trend. Same applies to Oliver actually.
