Devon for a boy, how popular?

Liking Devon but 2 friends of friends have recently used this for their girls.

Anyone heard of it being used for a boy?

I have only heard of girls being called Devon. It's very feminine sounding.

I know a boy called Devon - he'd be about 7 or 8.

My neighbour is a forty something year old man called Devon. It has always struck me (and others I know) as a bit odd, not bad but odd.

That bloke from Knight Rider was called Devon.

I know two Devons. Both boys - never know it could be a girls name.

It's a strange name imo. But I am from Devon. To me it's like calling someone Hereford.

I like the name. I know of only two: Devon Wing, muse to Jimi Hendrix (a.k.a. favourite shag) for whom he wrote Little Wing, one of my favourite Hendrix songs. She was cool-super Afro.

And I met the cricketer Devon Malcolm once. Very nice manners, and surprisingly good-looking in real life.

So I am biased!

I'd expect him to be a black guy. Probably because I associate with Devon Malcolm and various footballers whose surnames escape me now.

I'd prefer it for a girl

Didn't Nell Mc Andrew call her son Devon? I think it's quite nice actually.

Oh hang on, model/actor called Devon Aoki. She's cool too.

I always think of it as a boy's name because of devon malcolm the cricketer.I like it.There is a character in one of my favourite fantasy books [Tigana] called Devin with an 'i'.

Sorry about capital failure in Devon Malcolm's name!

It was on my list for DS, born 2 weeks ago. I don't know any other Devons but everyone I suggested the name to said it was daft. Kinda put me off.

I have never thought of it for a girl... To me it's 100% masculine sounding... Like Darren or Derron- not my taste either... maybe that's because i grew up in a different part of the world...

I've always liked this name for a boy. Have never met one personally. However I don't like 'Dev' as a nn which put me off naming DS this. Has never occurred to me that it could be a girl's name. Expecting a girl in a month. hmmmm

I obviously love it!
I've heard of 2 other boys called it & know of 2 girls since my Devon was named - I'd not heard anyone called it before (other than Devon Malcolm) & that's why it appealed.
The shortening to Dev was something that made me a little unsure - my son does get called it but doesn't really like it so tells people to call him by his full name.

I went to school with a boy Devon. I always remember thinking it was so unusual and very handsome (beautiful, but handsome. Along the same lines as Etienne or Gabriel imo).
