Wdyt? Is it totally unusable? smile

I like it a lot. Soft and gentle without being too cutesy. I wouldn't be too worried about the brand association either.

It's What Katy Did books for me - my all time favourite reads as a child and I think it's a lovely name which obviously has been rather spoilt by the spread reference.

At no point in my life (am now 42) would I have wanted to be called Clover.

Just No.

Nice for a cow or a cat. smilesmilesmilesmile

I like it!

Clover and Buttercup are cows' names.

I like it too!

Love it! Reminds me of 'What Katy Did'

Have you considered Clodagh? Sounds very similar but is a nice Irish name.

It's my dog's name so I cant imagine it for a child personally, it ends up getting shortened to 'Clo' as well which I'm not keen on, it's a bit harsh sounding.

I agree with BresticlesNTesticles (now that is quite a coll name grin). I don't see Clover as a person name at all.

Do the people who dislike the name Clover also dislike Daisy?

Sarah0378 Mon 22-Apr-13 12:47:57

Clover and Flora are margarine, lifetime of 'spreads easily' jokes at school. No.

Daisy is a nice name.

Love it! It's definitely a Marmite name. I think of 'What Katy Did' and an outdoorsy, faintly tomboyish kind of girl. Don't get the whole 'cow's name' thing, but then again I also love Tabitha (which everyone says is a cat's name) and Rufus (which everyone says is a dog's name)!

Oh we all love clover all over the land oh we all love clover it's the way that its churned.

I have, "over and over, crimson and clover"

Anyone else?

I quite like it as a name though. Flora is marg too and still a name.

I absolutely love Clover. It didn't work with our surname <weeps>. Please use it.

FatherSpodoKomodo Sat 27-Apr-13 18:26:06

I love love love Clover! It was always on my girls list, but alas I only had boys.

I loved the What Katy Did books so always associate the name with those rather than cows etc.

No

Butter connotations and cows spring to mind

In Animal Farm wasn't it the sheep who was called Clover

MrsBazinga Sat 27-Apr-13 19:16:36

Clover is also on of the rabbits in Watership Down.

I know a baby Clover, and I really like the name.

Ignore the dairy related comments. Is lovely. Or Flora?

Pixieonthemoor Sun 28-Apr-13 15:38:59

Adorable.

OrangeFootedScrubfowl Sun 28-Apr-13 17:31:34

I think Clover is delightful.

What Katy Did pops straight into my mind.

Clover is nicer than Daisy (bit too cutesy) and Flora (bit too maiden aunt).
