MoaningYoniWhingesAgain Sun 21-Apr-13 13:32:11

Only in sandwiches, not on toast.

grin

"Roll me over in the clover, roll me over, lay me down and do it again" is the song I think of every time I hear Clover.

However this is closely followed by the sister in the What Katy Did books.

Finally I think of a cow for some reason, sorry sad

BabsAndTheRu Sun 21-Apr-13 13:34:39

Agree with MoaningYoni, just keep thinking of the butter.

Suzieismyname Sun 21-Apr-13 13:35:12

Wasn't that the horse in Animal Farm?

twojumpingbeans Sun 21-Apr-13 13:35:37

Think it's beautiful. Really do...

CurryChip Sun 21-Apr-13 13:36:16

Oh, we don't have Clover butter where we come from so I don't have that association, but that is good to know!

Suzieismyname Sun 21-Apr-13 13:36:32

Sorry, the horse was Boxer.

coffeewineandchocolate Sun 21-Apr-13 13:37:06

To me its a cow-sorry...

Suzieismyname Sun 21-Apr-13 13:37:16

But still no...

PoppyWearer Sun 21-Apr-13 13:37:30

I love it, but DH vetoed it for DC2. Who was a boy anyway. grin

ParmaViolette Sun 21-Apr-13 13:38:42

I love it. The cool sassy blonde one in the cartoon Totally Spies was called Clover- so I think of her, not cows and butter! grin

A dear friend of mine has an 8yo dd named Clover (& a 10yo DD named Raven!)...she loved the names when they were younger. Now that they're getting older and stroppier she laments that she's burdened them with 'stripper' names. grin

FWIW, when she was choosing names I was an advocate for 'Clover' as I think it's very sweet. I detest the name Raven, though, poor little girl.

SantanaLopez Sun 21-Apr-13 13:41:13

Mooooo.....

scaevola Sun 21-Apr-13 13:42:50

Breastickles: I thought of that song too!

BlueStarsAtNight Sun 21-Apr-13 14:52:53

I think I like it. Though it sort of makes me think of a rabbit for some reason!

Its a cows name!

SirChenjin Sun 21-Apr-13 14:54:11

Clover was the name of my sister's first horse - for me it will always be an animal's name. Or the name of a margarine.

VAVAV00M Sun 21-Apr-13 15:05:09

I wish my name was Clover, it's Chloe but it always sounded too 'nicknamey' ... GO FOR IT!

dontblameme Sun 21-Apr-13 15:05:16

My friend had a dog called Clova, after a village in Scotland, I think it's pretty. But for a little girl I prefer Kiva (or Caoimhe ugh).

chainstore Sun 21-Apr-13 15:11:40

I had a dog called clover as a child,so thumbs down from me!

Gingerandcocoa Sun 21-Apr-13 15:18:10

Isn't that a name from Hunger Games? I think I'd always associate it with the book.

I love it, mostly because of Clover in, 'What Katy Did.'

HagsFlungOut Sun 21-Apr-13 15:20:31

It will always be What Katy Did for me, but I do understand the cow reference. Doesn't seem to affect the popularity of similar names though.

I'm unaware of the "butter" reference, as I never buy those artificial spreads, only real butter so I don't look at the rest of it.

I like it. Clo for a nn is lovely too.
