Hi been thinking about a name for a baby girl thats due in October. I don't know why but I really like the name Ridley, it's unusual which I like but for the middle name I was going to go for something traditional name to balance it out i.e

Ridley Josephine
Ridley Grace
Ridley Elizabeth

The problem is my surname am just nor sure it goes. My surname is Williams so am just wondering what you think.

FriggFRIGG Thu 11-Apr-13 15:05:23

I'm sorry, but I think Ridley is really awful...

pansyflimflam Thu 11-Apr-13 15:06:56

horrible, sorry

jackeroo Thu 11-Apr-13 15:07:18

Not keen on it either - sorry... just makes me think of Ridley Scott.

picnicbasketcase Thu 11-Apr-13 15:07:34

Sorry, but I don't even like it for a boy so on a girl I think it's awful. It makes me think of the riddler or riddled with worms or something. Your middle name ideas are nice though.

Bluestocking Thu 11-Apr-13 15:08:08

Sorry, Ridley is unspeakably bad. And what if she can't say her Rs and is doomed to introduce herself as Widdley?

lisaro Thu 11-Apr-13 15:12:08

Sorry - it's one of the worst I've seen on here. Please don't.

Willow36 Thu 11-Apr-13 15:12:47

Ridley Williams. Ick.

Like Bluestocking said, what if she can't say her Rs. She'll be Widley Williams.

Oh and the problem isn't your perfectly normal surname - it's the horrendous first name you've chosen.

Your middle names are lovely though, go for one of those.

Don't like it at all

Bonners Thu 11-Apr-13 15:17:12

It makes me think of Sigourney weaver in Alien. Sorry. Really love Josephine though.

In the end it's your choice so if you like it, go for it. Most people grow into their names.

Figgygal Thu 11-Apr-13 15:17:58

Sorry it's ridiculous

I thought it was a boy's name to start with. Would be ok for a boy.

mum47 Thu 11-Apr-13 15:25:42

Don't like Ridley at all for a boy or a girl. I do like Riley though..

frutilla Thu 11-Apr-13 15:34:14

What about Radley or Radleigh instead?

MumOfTheMoos Thu 11-Apr-13 15:36:18

I've never had to think up a girls name but I do quite like Ridley. I would have a second name that had two or three syllables - you can't go wrong with Elizabeth in my view.

DamselWithADulcimer Thu 11-Apr-13 15:38:28

Ridley is not good (and neither is Riley, and neither is Radley/Radleigh). Pregnancy rots the brain (I was tempted to call one of mine Boo while p/g). Grace and Elizabeth are fine, though!

sjupes Thu 11-Apr-13 15:41:43

Oh no i'm not keen at all sorry!

drdemi Thu 11-Apr-13 18:11:43

im not to keen or Ridley however it is your choice but as your asking for our choices i like Lacey or Lucey-may? smile

drdemi Thu 11-Apr-13 18:14:22

how about Lacey Leigh Williams or Lucey-may Williams! smile

kcw1986 Thu 11-Apr-13 18:54:40

Thanks for your replies I haven't settled on the name yet but it is my favourite at the moment. If she takes partners name it will be Ridley Harper which sounds better.

I like Lacey but my cousin recently had twin girls naming them Lacey and Bella. So that ones out.

Awful. What does your dp think?

Iseeall Thu 11-Apr-13 20:12:10

Ridley is for a boy imo. If you like Lacey you can still use it, its very pretty and I only know of one, and she is late teens. I can't think of anyway to make Ridley sound nice.

He's coming around to the name, he wanted to name her after his grandmother Agatha and I had to find a polite way of saying no way lol
He has two children from a previous marriage Isabelle and Odette. Odette was his choice so he likes unusual names as well.

Isabelle, Odette and Agatha all a zillion times nicer than Ridley imho.

How about Audrey?
