I keep seeing comments about names being 'trendy' and will 'date'. Apart from not really knowing what this means, I was hoping you could maybe please could you share the names 'trending' in your area.

Many thanks.

ps) this is not a name bashing thread, just really interested as it would seem I like these names blushwink

I am in Germany and there are loads of Lillys and Amelies. Also Maya/Mayra (Mi-ra)
Boys: Sebastian, Noah, Lucas, Jonas, Fabian and Florian.

In the US (Seattle) 4 years ago my dd had no less than 6 Olivia's in one class (aged 7) Ava and Iris were also big.

I've only read thd first page, but Charlie is every other 16 year old too, so it's been around for a while.

Thanks mulranno there were less than 2 born in 2010 according to stats and its never been on the charts, so it's either a random occurrence (a case of copying perhaps?!) or they are all babies and its suddenly shot up in popularity in a couple of years. Very odd! But interesting.

Oh, and there are 2 Ophelias at DD's Tumble Tots class - I don't think it is hugely popular apart from that though (i.e. never met another one).

I've got a five month old, so doing the rounds of baby groups etc we have met LOADS of Florences, lots of Williams, Tobys, Graces, Arthurs, Ellas and Finns, and at least a couple of Xanthes.

Also in just the last couple of weeks three Herberts!

In addition to the usual Tilly/Milly/Evie/Edie/Ava thing I'm meeting a lot of baby Emse / Elodies at the moment. That makes me a bit sad. It's one thing to give your child an overused top 20 name (I did!) knowing it was popular but if you're desperately trying to be different and you get to playgroup and are astonished to find multiple Freya / Florence / whatevers then I think it's a shame.

If you want your kid to have something really unique, pick something from our generation... You literally never come across a baby Loiuse or a Steve these days!

Where I am (North West England) there are lots of Jayden, Kayden, Brayden, Ava, Gracie, Isabella, Evie, Kane, Nevaeh and Cara's.

We have a jack - infact he's the only Jack in his year group of 80 kids.
We knew it was popular when we named him and there were 4 during his nursery years.
There are more Jakes than Jacks at his school.
