Initials PMT - does it matter

Dh and I have agreed on a first name beginning with P for our baby girl due on Thursday. I'd really like to give her the middle name Margaret after my much loved grandmother who recently died. This would, however, result in PMT as the initials. Do you think this matters? Thanks!

Add in a second middle name to off-set the potential for self-fulfilling prophesy.

It's not ideal is it? Especially for a girl. Could you add additional middle name?

We were going for a name for our dd that would have given her the initials ABH... It did worry me (actual bodily harm)... But then she was born and the A name just didn't work (Annabel) so she's now EBH and it was a relief!! I did like Annabel and we'd have gone for it if it had suited her!

I have to say I'd probably prefer not to have those initials myself Wink but at the same time I'm not sure how much full name initials are used in reality!
Congratulations on your upcoming new arrival.

Can you change the order of names around and call her Margaret P.... T...., but refer to her by her middle name.

It does matter, sorry. Agree with adding another middle name as the solution.

I know I'm in the minority but i don't think it's a big deal. People don't actually use their initials that often. Even at my work, where we sign with initials all day long, there's no reason a person couldn't choose to sign PT instead of PMT, if they wanted. Most of us don't use middle initials.

Anyway, I'm foreign and had to ask DH what PMT was (I would call it PMS) so I wouldn't have a problem with this.

Thanks - good to get other opinions and think now we will prob look for other alternatives. Both our other dcs only have one middle name so am thinking I'd like to keep things equal! Might go for my mum's name instead, which gives initials PAT. Is that just as bad?

Our secondary school uses teachers' initials for email addresses. (PMT@Somewherehighschool), listing teachers for parents meetings (ABC in Room 1, PMT in Room 2) etc etc.

I wouldn't want the initials PMT in that situation.

I have a BAA. She was almost a BRA til someone pointed it out!
I recall my childhool etchings in primary school being marked with my initials.
I wouldn't go with PMT. Was it Pippa, incidentally?

I think PAT is fine.

It's got much more positive connotations than PMT.

PMT bad, PAT cute. PAMT or PMAT both fine too.

PAT is absolutely fine. I would avoid PMT if possible. We have an A first name and an S last name so are avoiding all S and R middle names - which has been really frustrating as I love a couple of S names and we gave up on S first names too as DH was concerned about SS initials!

There was a girl at school called Harriet Imogen Varley. She had ostentatious luggage that she brought on one trip with the initials H.I.V stamped on it. This was in the 1970/1980s. Bet it's in the loft now.

PAT is fine apart from cowpat potential. Don't think it matters if one child has two middle names and the others have one?
