Conflict of emotions by the sound of it, glad you had a heart to heart.

Yeah am ok. He is just having a bad few days. His ex has been a cow over having the kids and he is fed up that their house hasn't sold so we are stuck in a one bed flat. Think it just got too much this morning and he lashed out.

We have talked and he knows he ballsed up. He has even sat down off his own back and made a list of boys names.

I am just being massively over sensitive i think cos of how i feel or rather don't feel about the pregnancy

I know this is Baby Names not Relationships but i hope you are okay OP.

Apparently thinking about names is "soul destroying" for dp so this could turn out to be interesting sad

Don't tell your Mum any more names until your baby arrives and you've decided. Or anyone else, for that matter - it's between you and your DP, no other views matter, so don't give them the chance.

Lots of time to go and it may even be a girl not a boy. Appreciate it is playing on your mind so shall throw a few ideas and see if any hit the spot, (tempting to include a few off the wall ones on the basis DP can't possibly know someone by every single suggestion...!).

Rory
Kyle
Clark
Otis
William
Also like Joseph as suggested above.

Am sure DP will join in once he is in the mood and probably wants to first feel you and he are in a good place ready for a fresh start.

i have wormcanner but thanks for the link. so far we have hit loads of websites and gone cover to cover on 3 baby names books and no joy.

I think a lot is the fact that he has had a lot on his mind so is just pushing all things baby related to the back of his mind on the basis we still have 4.5 months to go. We are both in process of getting divorced from other people (neither of us are the reason for the other getting divorced i wish to point out!) and his ex is being a real delight over access to his kids. Plus i have been incredibly ill so its all put a huge strain on him. think this is just something he feels he doesn't need to think about it yet. Unfortunately for him the fact he won't think about it is really getting to me.

There are thousands of names out there, it's very unlikely that you won't be able to find one that you both like! So try and enjoy the search.

Have you looked on this site - it has lots of ways of finding and sorting different types of name, with reliable background information on meanings and origin.

Samuel Jack Surname?

fussychica Sat 23-Mar-13 16:08:55

Luca, Adam, William.

Littlecherublegs Sat 23-Mar-13 15:21:15

I like the name Jack.

How about:
Toby / Tobias
Nathan
Louis
Joseph
Anthony
Christian
Dominic
Aidan / Haydn
Daniel
Ciaran
Leon

The Jack I know has a brother Samuel.

Good luck!

Its not the fact it was her dad's name that's the issue. Its the fact that she hates the name and says so did he which is why he was James or Jim all his life.

Snazzynewyear Sat 23-Mar-13 14:12:42

If you love Henry I would use it. Your mum hardly owns it on account of it being her dad's name - and for most people that would make them more pleased, not less, that you were using it. How about Henry Jack? Or John as the name from which Jack comes?

BabyHMummy Sat 23-Mar-13 12:58:08

wormcanner - i wish i could leave it! i have an anxiety disorder that is really bad atm and i go into organisational overdrive with things - i know i am making myself worse but i just can't help it, i just want to know we have some ideas. It is making me start to panic and hope like hell that its not a boy which is madness cos i really don't care as long as its healthy, but i just can't help myself

yes i know i am off my rocker smile

WormCanner Sat 23-Mar-13 12:53:11

Forget about it until and unless the scan says it's a boy. Why get stressed about something that may not happen.

BabyHMummy Sat 23-Mar-13 12:06:00

My mum has been a funny sod about Henry, it was her Dad's name although he was James all his life. I love it, but she has got all funny about it - dunno why - and i know my mum and she will be dead funny about it. Both DP and I have uncles who were Jack that we were close to so we would like to use it.

DP doesn't like Alec or Alex, both have been suggested by other people. He cannot seem to seperate names from people he has known over the years - it is becoming quite an issue!

MolotovCocktail Sat 23-Mar-13 11:28:05

Or Alex? Love Alexander (and Alexandra for a girl, come to think of it!)

gertrudestein Sat 23-Mar-13 10:26:53

What about Alec? It's one of my favourite names, is short and has a hard sound at the end like Jack.

Snazzynewyear Sat 23-Mar-13 00:08:04

How about Henry as the first name? I think it's nice and presumably you like it if you were picking it as middle name. What did you like about Jack - short and to the point? J as an initial? Traditional?

Or, if you're having the scan in 2 weeks, why not wait till then and see whether you even need a boy's name? If you do, then you can come back to the shortlist.

BabyHMummy Fri 22-Mar-13 22:25:30

Ladies I need help!! I have my 20 week scan in 2 weeks (will be 21 weeks) and we have decided to find out what flavour we are having. We have been discussing possibilities for names and am now completely stressed out as we cannot come up with a boys name or even a short list. We have a girls name that we both love but neither of us can think of boys names that we both like. We originally had Jack Henry after family members but DP has a son called Zachary shortened to Zack so it occured to us that we couldn't have Zack and Jack and since then nothing hits us.

Anyone got any suggestions?!
