I've tried to whittle it down....honest...

Boys middle names would be Nicolas Reginald
Girls middle names would be Sukie Mable or a combination of pip/philippa/pippa and Mable.
Those are all family names and are pretty much non-negotiable.
Our surname is double barrelled with initials P-G,sounds like lerry-dorge rubbish at rhyming, made up words instead grin
We have two other DC with very short slightly unusual names.
<outs self completely>

It's super duper early, but I do love names grin so opinions, thoughts and additions welcome.

Thankyou FingersCrossed thanks
I agree Meer we won't be finding out the sex of this baby (we did with the other two) which means I can ponder twice as many names grin

Viviennemary Mon 25-Mar-13 20:12:06

I don't like any of the boys names very much. Of the girls I like Clara and Odette.

I like Atticus and Artemis best! Many of your names are on my lists too - we don't know whether it will be DS2 or DD1 but half the fun is thinking up great names! smile

FingersCrossedLegsNot Mon 25-Mar-13 12:00:32

Oh they are fantastic names!

FriggFRIGG Sun 24-Mar-13 20:04:00

I wouldn't tell everyone to call her Artie,it's just probably what we'd call her for short on some occasions.

My other DC are (1st and 2nd names) Skye Matilda and Arlo Phoenix
DP chose Skye,I chose Matilda,I chose Arlo,DP chose Phoenix.
I've never loved DD's 1st name, and i regret letting DP have free rein on it.
which is why I'm hellbent on never making that mistake again wink

toffeelolly Sun 24-Mar-13 16:17:07

love Jude for boy , I also have one and love Betsy for girl.

Don't like Artemis.

FingersCrossedLegsNot Sun 24-Mar-13 16:04:47

Ooooooh you have fantastic taste in names, I love most from your lists. But my favourites are

Atticus
Jude
Rufus
Kit........adore on my list
Ezra.....adore on my lst

Clementine
Betsy
Juno.....on my list
Agatha

What are your other dc names...sorry I'm so curious and you seem to have very similar taste to me!

TheBuskersDog Sun 24-Mar-13 15:27:25

If you choose Artemis please don't then spoil it by trying to get everyone to call her Artie. In my mind nicknames evolve rather than be chosen in advance.

forgetmenots Sun 24-Mar-13 15:15:55

Not keen on Artemis for a girl, much preferred from your list Merewyn, Agatha, Betsy and Etta (quite like Odette).

FriggFRIGG Sun 24-Mar-13 14:49:58

Thanks guys,I'm really loving

Atticus (nn kit)
Fenn

And

Artemis (nn Artie?)
Odette (nn Etta)

One of our DC has an A name already though...I might use them anyway grin

DonkeysDontRideBicycles Sun 24-Mar-13 14:05:36

Atticus would be amazing.
I always think of Romy as a girl's name fwiw.
Mable or Mabel, sweet.
Artemis or Odette - again, how refreshing!

SnowLeopard27 Sun 24-Mar-13 13:50:47

Love atticus with kit smile - really good idea! For girls, Odette and Artemis are nice. Not so keen on Merewyn.
Love your name choices overall though smile.

FriggFRIGG Fri 22-Mar-13 22:03:18

Ooh I'm adding Artemis to the girls list...

FriggFRIGG Fri 22-Mar-13 20:35:41

I'm glad you agree about Atticus nn Kit...I like it a lot and DP likes it too...we also agree on idris,so that's two for the short short list grin

FriggFRIGG Fri 22-Mar-13 20:21:36

It is a short form of Susan/Susannah,but I really dislike both of those names,so I compromised on Sukie, which I actually quite like, but I still wouldn't use it as a first name,as I'd hate it to be shortened to sue.

birdofthenorth Fri 22-Mar-13 20:20:25

That's a pretty long shortlist smile

I think with four middle/ surnamesI would go for a shorter first name. I like a lot of your names but would opt for Jude, Kit and Otis; and Nell, Maud or Betsy.

Kit as nn for Atticus might just be a genius idea! smile

nooka Fri 22-Mar-13 20:18:45

Sukie to me is jut too nicknamy/cutsie to go in the middle of a name, and when I say it aloud it turns into Sukiemable which sounds a bit odd. I think it would make a better first name - isn't Sukie the short form of Susannah?

Of your list the short cool girls names for me are Vita and Juno (other short cool names Nina, Gwen, Miriam) also Romy, which I've only come across for girls/women.

Idris is obviously a fantastic name (Ivor the Engine fan grin) and we were going to use Ezra so that's great too. I also really like Barnaby.

SeeBoobies Fri 22-Mar-13 20:00:21

Oh and Nell is also a very pretty name.

SeeBoobies Fri 22-Mar-13 19:58:05

Really like Idris, Fenn, Clara and Betsy. Not too fussy but not too dull, and they don't sound like you're trying too hard to be different. All lovely. Good luck! smile

FriggFRIGG Fri 22-Mar-13 19:55:23

*Ernest...stupid iPad.

FriggFRIGG Fri 22-Mar-13 19:53:41

Oh and I'm glad you like Sukie Mable I love it,but I couldn't either as a first name because the short forms are too dull...

FriggFRIGG Fri 22-Mar-13 19:51:55

YY was me blush
I know it's normally spelt Mabel,and I'm not a fan of odd spellings usually,BUT that's how my Nan's name was spelt,so that's how I'll spell it.

Ugh,I keep changing idriss to idris but the sodding iPad has a mind of its own!

Atticus is my absolute favourite,I thought Kit might work as a nn for this? Not sure why, just seemed to fit...

I like Earnest but I really dislike ernie, and I worry about that becoming his nn.

I think Atticus and idris are top contenders for boys...then Pasco,Fenn,joby....

But arggh,I love all of them...

As far as Girls names go,I keep being pulled to one name and then another and I can't settle on a favourite at all.
