Boys name HELP!

2 weeks until baby is due and we cannot decide on a boys name! DH is french so has to work with a french accent. Don't want anything too popular, in France or UK as probably moving to France in a couple of years. So far we love Oscar but too popular here. Love Theo but too popular in France. Like Isaac but also v popjlar here. Other two optoons are Arlo and Alban/Albin. Neither too popular here (in Scotland) but not sure how a) Arlo works on a grown up (ie think its fav for a child but not convinced it works on a businessman...?) and b) how Albin/Alban would be pronounced. In Scotland we'd say Al-bin (like Alvin but with a b) but wondering if in England its mkre like All-bin which I don't like so much...

Thoughts?

Go with what you like and not what is popular or not popular. Names are in and out of fashion and something that is not popular now will be again in a year or two. My eldest is an Andrew, only knew one other Andrew at the time (his uncle) and by the time he started school he had three friends called Andrew.

Leonard/Leo? Out of your options I like Isaac.

nelly83 · 22/02/2013 17:53

Alfie100 · 22/02/2013 17:56

MustTidyUpMustTidyUp · 22/02/2013 19:44

Go with Arlo. Great name.

LynetteScavo · 22/02/2013 19:45

Arlo.

Alban just makes me think of

fieldfare · 22/02/2013 20:10

Arlo is a super name. I like that one the most fom your list.

Alfie100 · 22/02/2013 20:29

Are there any french mums out there who can tell me if Arlo "works" in french? My DH isn't totally convinced that it does but I don't know why....? X

LynetteScavo · 22/02/2013 22:16

Lucas?

LynetteScavo · 22/02/2013 22:16

Or Luke/luc?

LynetteScavo · 22/02/2013 22:19

Alex

Anton

Benjamin

Louis

Anton

Hector

I'm think some names are pronounced very differently in French and English, and Theo is one of them.

nannyof3 · 22/02/2013 22:21

How about Karsten ?

LynetteScavo · 22/02/2013 22:25

Felix?

Noah?

Leo?

HormoneHell · 23/02/2013 08:09

Isaac is fab and not that popular. I know two Arlos, 3 Theo's but no Isaacs.

I know this may sound strange but how about spelling Arlo, Arlow? Looks a bit more grown up?

BananaHammocks · 23/02/2013 08:52

Alban makes me think All Bran.

IAmLouisWalsh · 23/02/2013 14:03

Arlo. Love it.

MummyduckB · 23/02/2013 17:36

I love Arlo. It has a really nice "ring" to it.

A French mate of mine has an Arlo. AFAIK it was well received by her family. Theo is a different pronunciation in French so it would not work.

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 23/02/2013 20:40

Arlo is my sons name,I adore it.
but,if you're not sure,how about Arno? (It's French)

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 23/02/2013 20:43

Hmmm, well this site says it's French, others claim German...
