I was just wanting some opinions. My little girl is registered/called Maggie, not Margaret! We have just had a second girl and are having trouble thinking of a name for her.
Would it be wrong to call her daisy seeing as it is seen as a nickname for Margaret?
Any other suggestions??
Congratulations Jen!
Daisy's a deviation of Margaret? I had no idea!
They're both lovely names and sound good together.
For me that would be a bit close. Others may notice and comment on it. If you want a flower name how about
Rose/Rosa
Violet/viola
Iris
Tansy
Or other otherwise
Hazel
Francesca
Daphne
Nina
Cora
Xanthe
Lois
Cleo
Sadie
I had no idea either. Perhaps only Margarets would know this? Or maybe I am thick. I thought Peggy was the only short version other than Marg.
Not sure if many people would notice the Daisy/Margaret thing, however, Daisy seems a bit more sappy than Maggie which I think of a strong name.
plus them both ending in the same sound can come across a bit twee.
How about:
Greta
Stella
Rita
Beth
Bess
Harriet
Estelle
Mabel
Eleanor
Nora
Thanks! The French margarite means daisy so it's transferred across the channel.

I like Stella and sadie but our surname begins with s so I think it's a bit of a mouthful.
Greta and Rita are also shortened versions of Margaret.
Maggie is a good strong name and I don't want an sweet one for the baby, like Anna, it's too 'nice'!
I like Annie though...
I would know that Daisy is a short form of Margaret!
Dora?
Strangely I like Annie too ;)
what about :
Fallon
Jenna
Vanessa
Lorna
Still think a shortened version of Elizabeth might be nice, if you don't like Beth or Bess, how about Lizzy, Liza, Bet, Betty or Bunty
I've got a Daisy (not Margaret!) I love the name Maggie too. I think they're perfect sibling names. I quite like that the names have the same 'ie sound' ending. As long as its not completely the same I.e Ollie & lily, Alfie & Sophie etc. Congrats by the way xx
Yes, Daisy is a derivation of Margaret, but it isn't obvious and these two names go so well together and are really cute
. Also, it's actually quite nice to tie their names together like this - especially if you have a special relative or friend called Margaret.
Xx
Its not a well known derivation any more (I only know because of Good Wives ;) ) so you could probably get away with it. The two names do sound sweet together.
I think it's well known that daisy comes from Margaret to be honest. I wouldn't do it. It'd be like having a caroline and a charlotte. Or an Elizabeth and an Isabel.
Obviously you can if you want to...
Maggie is gorgeous. Penny would go well with it. Maggie and Penny
Faith
Hazel
Lois
Carys
I consider these names to be quite strong.
Daisy is lovely. I would not have connected it to Margaret before reading this thread. I dont think its a commonly known link tbh.
Wouldn't have connected it either! Tho as others have said perhaps it is a slighter name than Maggie? Not as strong? Lovely name though.
I also love Annie.
Have you thought of Tess or Tessa? It gets away from the ie endings but is still an old kind of name. Maggie and Tess. Or something completely different like Lola? Maggie and Lola!
Still haven't decided ladies and we've two weeks left to decide.
We are now toying with Ellen or Evie.. ;()
Like Ellen.
Evie is nice too though more popular.
Love Daisy!
How about:
Julia / Juliette
Lucinda / Lucy
Nina
Betsy
Callie
Bella
Gracie
Jane / Janey
Clara
Nancy
Rosa
We have finally drcided on Annie, pressure was on because our six weeks are up tomorrow! Thanks for your input. Im never leaving name picking this long again because it makes it so much harder! Xx
Oh Annie is lovely
Lovely! And it goes beautifully with Maggie.
