Great choice :-)
Both beautiful names - the only Celeste I know is the most lovely woman both in looks and nature. If she is ever grumpy then it makes me laugh as it is so rare. Hope your Celeste brings you Joy every day
Oh how nice to hear what you've chosen, hope last couple of months of pregnancy are comfortable.
Lovely name! Good luck!
Thank you guys.
Have a lot of over thinking this we have decided on Celeste Joy
You can't have Celeste Mary...think of all the abandoned ship jokes she will get!
I like Celeste Susannah ,
Hazel Jane is lovely too , pure and pretty .
Celeste Seren (tr 'Heavenly' and 'Star')
Marie for the middle name
This morning someone mentioned Apple, I've never suggested it anywhere else on Baby Names so....
The first thing that sprang to mind was Celeste Alexandra. If your surname is a single syllable one I think the rhythym of Celeste Alexandra Ashridge M is beautiful. But it is a very different name type to Hazel Jane?
Real
Celeste Ophelia is gorgeous. How about Celeste Juno?
I like Celeste Edith. Personally I'd go for something short and elegant like Anne or June.
I think Celeste is a great name, and I agree that that the middle name should "less fancy". I like Mary or Marie, but then you would get Mary Celeste if they were the wrong way round, and that would sound like an abandoned ship!
Lovely suggestions above, not much left
Definitely think a short name would go well as Celeste is quite flowery of itself and I wouldn't want to point up a contrast with DD1's names by giving lots of syllables to DD2, only my opinion of course.
So, Celeste X Ashbridge (short surname starts M)?
Celeste Maire
Celeste Neve or Niamh
Celeste Katrin (or Catrin!)
Celeste Olwyn
Celeste is very pretty.
I think, as it is a very soft-sounding name, a strong middle name would suit it best:
Celeste Alexandra
Celeste Annabel
Celeste Caroline
Celeste Gabrielle
Celeste Helen
Celeste Joanna
Celeste Judith
Celeste Rachel
Celeste Ruth
Celeste Victoria
Sorry but all I think of when I hear this name is my birth control pill: Cilest
That aside, I think to avoid it being a mouthful you should stick to a shorter middle name?
My first thoughts were Joy or Marie/Maria - but I do like the thought of a J name to match your other daughter.
How about another 1 syllable name to follow the pattern of your 1st DD?
Celeste Hope
Celeste Faith
Celeste Pearl
Celeste May
Celeste Fleur
Celeste Ann
Celeste Joy
Celeste June
Celeste Blythe
Celeste Rose
Celeste Grace
Or, go with the month she will be born in - Celeste April is lovely.
Any traditional middle name would also work:
Celeste Mary
Celeste Victoria
Celeste Louise
Celeste Frances
Sorry Toobreathless, I wasn't meaning to be negative.
Yes, Edith and Evelyn would go well with DD1's names too!
Really interesting points thanks guys!
DD1 was named after my grandmother (Hazel) & a nod to a song DH likes 'Hazey Jane' DH had no strong feelings about any names really for her. DH LOVES Celeste and as I quite like it & he feels so strongly I'm happy for this. Meaning is very important to us, DH is an atheist and we wanted a flowery/nature/of the earth or sky type name without being too matchy with Hazel. Second name DH has said is up to me & meaning not really important.
Other suggestions were:
Celeste Edith
Celeste Evelyn
gazza I think you're right about Aurelia/Opthelia and have crossed them off.
gazzalw - i see what you mean, but my first thought was Valentina!
op - what do you think?
I would go with a really straight name (Mary, Elizabeth, Louise, Catherine...) rather than another 'fancy' one such as Aurelia or Ophelia - it's always worth considering that she might want a more 'normal' fitting-in type of name when she's older, so you would be doing her a disservice if you give her two very 'fancy' names...
Celeste is a very, very pretty name...but if you don't mind me saying, it's a huge contrast to your other daughter's rather straight-forward, no-nonsense names (for all that there's nothing wrong with either one of them). DD1 might be rather irked when she's older that she's got two sensible names and her sister has two very pretty, fanciful ones...
Sorry that's not much help
DD2 will almost certainly be Celeste (due April) we are stuck for middle names:
We have thought of:
Celeste Elizabeth
Celeste Susannah
Celeste Opthelia
Celeste Aurelia
Celeste Florence
Second middle name will be Ashbridge (family tradition) followed by a short surname beginning in M.
DD1 is Hazel Jane.
I am clearly over thinking this but would be grateful for other suggestions. I worry that Elizabeth will date as I suspect that the royal baby (if female!) will have it in their name somewhere & this may spark a surge in popularity. Told you I was over thinking it!
