I love this name and considering it for dc3. Possibly Alma Lily. What do you think?
It's one of my great aunts names (never met her, so can't tell you what she was like), and it will always remind me of the place Princess Diana died.
Actually, if I'd never herd it before, I would think "What a lovely name."
Love it. Seems I only breed boys, but its top of my girls list.

It makes me think of "Alma mater" but that's not a negative connection. I don't love it but its definitely not one of those "how could you?!" names.

echidnakid - I checked the meaning of it, alma mater means "nourishing mother"in Latin.
so alma would be the nourishing part, which I personally find very interesting, because as it's been mentioned upthread, it also means apple in Hungarian.
OP - I can't help thinking, that if, you name her Alma, she's going to be one of your 5 a day!

Thank you! Really nice meaning, feeling quite sold on it now. My dh quite likes it and is "having a think" so I just hope he agrees!

I was thinking of Alma Mater in the sense that it refers to the university you graduated from but nourishing mother is a lovely meaning.

I like it. As well as apple in Hungarian, in Spanish it means 'soul', so lots of nice meanings
