DS2 due in May.
We favour unusual names and names with sort of natural meanings/ sounds (hope that makes sense!) and I guess soft sounding names. DS1 is called Iden, so it needs to go with this.

Shortlist is;
Quinlan (nn Quinn)
Tarin
Rowan

I like Rowan best, although if you use Quinn it goes well with Iden.

WickWackThurso Sat 26-Jan-13 19:55:58

Rowan is lovely

Wigeon Sat 26-Jan-13 19:57:56

Rowan. Afraid the others don't sound like names to me. Tarin sounds like a girls' name.

Don't really like the way all your shortlist names are too similar to your DS's name, in that they are two syllables and end in "n"...

Agree rowan is a strong but gentle boys name.

Geranium3 Sat 26-Jan-13 19:59:50

rowan would be my choice, not keen on your other2choices but rowan is a super name.
Good luck!

I'm liking this as Rowan is my absolute favourite!
I see what you mean Wigeon, and hadn't really thought of it before. We obviously have a particular 'style' we like!
Tarin is a unisex name.

BouncyPenguin Sat 26-Jan-13 20:11:38

Quinn

Wigeon Sat 26-Jan-13 20:15:01

Rowan is also unisex (the only one I've met was a girl in fact).

Rowan is lovely for a boy: don't like it for a girl. DD2 would have been Rowan had she been ds.

Never heard of Tarin - it's okay-ish. Don't like Quinlan/Quinn.

Rowan is a girls name round here

Solero Sat 26-Jan-13 20:23:29

I like Rowan but Quinn for a boy is quite cute

Mellymog Sat 26-Jan-13 20:23:58

Only Rowan i know of is Rowan Atkinson. Good name for a boy still.

NowPlayingZone Sat 26-Jan-13 20:42:41

Rowan. Think it's a lovely name & the one I know is a great guy!

Not keen on your other choices.

BabyRoger Sat 26-Jan-13 20:44:10

I like Quinn best closely followed by Rowan. Not keen on Tarin.

MyLastDuchess Sat 26-Jan-13 20:45:29

I love Rowan.

AlphaBeta2012 Sun 27-Jan-13 09:43:51

Thanks all, just showed dh this thread and think its helped convince him maybe rowan is the way to go!

Nancy66 Sun 27-Jan-13 10:54:23

I think they're all quite wimpy names for a boy....sorry!

EvenIfYouSeeAPoppy Sun 27-Jan-13 10:55:25

Rowan is lovely, absolutely top name; others are awful.
