With Matilda I think Esther or Beatrix would be lovely. I prefer Rosalie to rose as a first name. The other girls names in. I not so keen on. Also I think Florence and Matilda sound absolutely wonderful together, they are the names of my hypothetical twin girls.

To be honest I really don't like any of the boys names you have chosen. Half of them are way old fashioned and not in a good way and they all come across as very well pretentious. If you love them though you should pick something you love it shouldn't matter what any one else thinks.
If I had a Matilda I would name a boy and name along the lines of Oscar or how about Frederick (Freddie).

Ah but I can't bear Freddie or Oscar! Horses for courses!

Beatrix Valentina - I like that!

I like your boys' names - I don't think they are pretentious at all. I like Hugo, Sebastian and Tristan best. And I like Francis nn Frank.

I LOVE Valentina, Greta and Louisa as well as Lucian, Tristan, Ivo, Angus and Piers! Lovely underused classics! Sound great in English as well as other (European) languages. I don't think they're pretentious (pretending to be what...?!)

I'm not keen on Freddie or Oscar either.

I adore Frieda. I would have that if I ever have another.

Thanks all. My faves at the mo are Ivo, Frank and Rowan; and Greta, Louisa and Frieda! (two of those names are grandparents' names, so likely tools sway...)

Ps - glad other people understand my Freddie / Oscar type dislike. If it helps, think of DD as Tilda to get more of an idea of our taste. We chose Matilda as the full name because of its strength and meaning (mighty in battle - wow) definitely not because of any dreams of a cute little girl called Tilly!! Does that make sense?!

Will def use only grandparent/great grandparent names as middle names btw.

Beatrix - not keen, prefer Beatrice

Nessa (means second in Cornish - local) - just makes me think of Gavin & Stacey and also what a crap meaning! Her sister gets 'mighty in battle' and she gets '2nd' you might as well just call her no.2 and be done with!
Rose - nice, but pretty much every post on here has got Rose/Rosie/Rosemary on it I think it's going to be the next Lily.

Frieda - awful

Oh and Louisa would, controversially I know, be shortened by us to Weezy. Ie the middle sound in the name. We know one as a friend of the family (nn is long story though - not connected to Louise at all!) and she is the most wonderful person. we irrationally love it!

Greta is the best of your girls' names by far. Love it. Esther also lovely, as is Beatrix. Louisa nice but a bit safe. Not keen on the others.

Hugo is fab, also love Angus. Sebastian ok but I don't like Seb. None of the others grab me, sorry.

I really like your girls choices. Greta is marvellous. Also love Valentina.

Not so keen on boys. Sebastian is the only one I would go for.
