I'm expecting our 2nd child and we don't know the sex. DS1 is called Isaac and I quite like Eli if this baby is a boy too. What do you think?

I have a feeling it's about to get really popular.

But it's not bad.

I love it but then I have an Isaac and it was on my list when I was expecting number 2.

I have an irrational fear of Eels and I don't like the sound of it cos it sounds like "Eely"

That's probably just me though Grin You should probably go for it

I really like it but would use Elijah as the full name.

It's been on my list for the last two ds (Elijah) as has Issac. Unfortunately dp is not as keen

Lovely, I would use Elias as a full name.

I love it.

I adore it. It was my choice for ds (4) but I have a Lily too and didn't want to be confused with a pharmaceutical manufacturer (Eli Lilly). The only thing is that I thought an Eli might be called Ellie - maybe unless the full name was Elijah (love that too)

It's alright. Don't love it, don't hate it.

It conjured up images of either Amish people or gypsies to me.

The only Eli I know is adorable.

Immediate reaction: Eli Thompson, brother of Nucky from "Boardwalk Empire".

Then I remembered that it's also a Biblical name and rather lovely. :)

It's a name I always think of as a joke name, sorry.

Report
ellesabe · 11/01/2013 19:41

I would assume it was a nn for Elijah

Report
VBisme · 11/01/2013 19:43

I thought it was a nn for Elijah as well.

It's a bit rural as a name. (A bit Seth-like iyswim) but very nice.

I really like it - we use it as a short form for Elijah for one of our boys.
