Do you like it, know of any...is it popular? Thanks

I don't like it much, I'm afraid. But then I don't like Polly/Poppy/Archie/Alfie cutesy names that seem quite 'trendy' at the moment.

I prefer more 'substantial' and elegant names personally. But thankfully we all have different tastes. Choose the name YOU love.

I don't know why, as my best friend growing up was called Polly, but I don't like it. It just sounds silly to me.

I like it. I know an adult Polly who is a doctor, so no limits at all! One of my mums friends has it as a nn for Pauline, she is a uni lecturer. All the nursery rhymes with it in are quite sweet and not nasty, also Polly Parrot on Peppa is one of DDs favourites!

I love Polly, don't know any. WOuld use it in a heartbeat if dh liked it.
You also have the most wonderful PJ Harvey as a kick ass name sake.

There's Polly Toynbee, so I think it does pass the solicitor test (well, she's a journalist, but you know what I mean).

In Milly Molly Mandy the mother is called Polly although her name is Mary for some unfathomable reason. Along the lines of Peggy being short for Margaret I suppose.

I quite like it, but prefer Poppy, yet I'm undecided if they pass the 'solicitor' test?!

I know a little Polly. To me it sounds posh but in a nice way. I think it's much nicer than Holly or Molly, both of which I think are quite ugly names. However, it sounds a little bit like a nickname or, as other posters have said, like a doll's name.

I really like it, know a couple of people who considers it but none who used it

I have a Polly. She does get called Holly or Poppy occasionally but it's still such a fabulous name. Don't know any others. Often get complimented on it because it's not a name heard often but isn't strange.

I wanted Pollyanna, nn Polly but my dh vetoed it. If we had another girl though I'd push for it again. Love the name.

One of the loveliest people I know is called Polly. It is a great name.

sarahseashell Thu 27-Dec-12 21:27:54

love it

Lovethesea Thu 27-Dec-12 20:29:53

Not my taste, but I don't like Molly, Holly or Polly.

Reminds me of dolls and just doesn't have enough weight to it for me.

Clumsasaurus Thu 27-Dec-12 20:16:58

Fab name, don't know any but it's gorgeous!

Great name wink

Rhubarbgarden Thu 27-Dec-12 19:58:57

I like it. I know an adult Polly.

Mollydoggerson Thu 27-Dec-12 15:27:20

I like it, it is sweet, would not suit a big bulky girl, so could be burdensome depending on the child.

CPtart Thu 27-Dec-12 15:19:54

I know one. Don't like the name at all. Sounds like a dolls name to me, sorry.

Alisvolatpropiis Thu 27-Dec-12 14:45:12

I like it. Have never met one.

Clawdy Thu 27-Dec-12 14:16:23
