What do you think about Geraldine - the surname begins with A. Is it pretentious, or sounds old fashioned to you? What d you think?

It's a lovely name but why are you asking this in 'Site stuff'? Confused

Hello

We've moved this one to Baby Names now, as it doesn't really belong in Site Stuff.

I'd have thought old fashioned but I met one recently, (early 30s) and, in person, it sounded strong, cool, distinctive and prettier than I'd have thought.

Apologies to GeraldineMumsnet but Geraldine is horrible. It screams 60s and 70s Ireland. There were at least half a dozen Gers in my year in school. It's as bad as Sharon or Linda.

There are some amazing Geraldines out there, but I group it with Roberta, pauline, Stephanie, etc, as slightly naff feminisations of a man's nome.
