What are the views on Julia?

Someone suggested it today for DD2 and I initially thought "no", and then thought: "hang on: Julia Flyte plus The White Album.... what's not to like?"

But what connotations do you get? Could it be a runner?

I quite like it. Fancier than Julie. I have only met one Juliet in real life and frankly the name just seemed pretentious!

Very beautiful name, well known but not overused. I've always liked it.

My name is Julia (NN Jules). I love it and have always loved it.

One warning though - I sometimes get called Julie as a nickname - which I hate.

Love it. I think it's pretty and classy without being pretentious.

I was at school with two Julias. I didn't much like either of them but I do think it's a lovely name.

One of the two was very posh, and her family all pronounced it Joolya, to the point where some of her friends spelt it like that.

The only problem with Julia is that a lot of people think it's actually Julie so get your name wrong. Our class teacher was always calling the other Julia, Julie. You'd think she'd get it right as it was written down in front of her.

Julia is lovely. Really classy and elegant but still feels right for a little girl.

I love it, it's a beautiful timeless name.

I am a Julia and I never wanted to change it when we all had those "what would you rather be called" convos.

I was the only one in my entire school (about 1000 kids)

The only drawback was that it was annoying when people pronounced it Joolya, and extremely annoying when people called me Julie.

I really love it too - much nicer than Juliet imo.
