Initials BJ!
We like a name, problem it starts with B and our surname is J. DH is concerned about this but I think how often do people actually get referred to by their initials?!
It's the only name we both like and we haven't for weeks been able to find one to replace it.
Thoughts?
Wouldn't put me off, you can always add a middle initial?
Thoughts? Wouldn't fancy it as a teenager. Add a middle initial, then no one will notice.
Yeah it would put me off sorry we ditched the middle name Belle as our baby's initials would have been GBH Good jOb my mum noticed that
No I do not like the idea of middle names as they never get used so they seem a bit redundant to me.
I am starting to be put off the name too now because of it.
Back to the drawing board I think
my son't initials are BJM - apparently I have scarred him for life.
Personally I think if people are that childish then sod them. If you like the name then use it.
This is what i said at first DuelingFanjo ... I am having a moment of doubt I think!
I have worked in jobs where initials were used and written frequently, I would say that BJ would stand out in those circumstances.
I counseled my sister against giving her son the initials BJT, but she ignored me made her own decision
It would probably put me off, sorry.
I wouldnt do it.
Whats the name?
I dare not say it is not in the top 10 and it's a "surname as a name" so not really MN friendly! haha no it was Blake
Given that in my job my initials are my email address and regularly posted on timetables and other documents that 700 teenagers have access to, I'm pretty relieved they are innocuous.
I think you can over worry about this but BJ is just about the worst one I can think of having....
Sorry, childish or not, I would definitely avoid those initials.
My initials are BJ. I have never ever ever ever ever ever ever in my whole entire life noticed, nor have I had anyone else notice.
Ever.
In fact, this thread is the first time Ive connected it.
Call your baby whatever you like. If people want to bully and take the piss, they will find any reason.
No, don't give BJ as initials.
My surname is J and my favourite names are Bailey and Benjamin...
But BJ, even with a middle initial is a massive no no.
Kids are cruel.
Teenagers are cruel.
Work colleagues will take the piss
Your child will hate its name.
And how often do you refer to someone by all three initials rather than just the first and last.
It's just one letter and I feel your pain, but don't do it. DH's cousin has loathed his name his whole life because of this.
Not entirely the same but my partners first name and middle name initials are BJ.
Nothing had ever been mentioned to him about and he didnt realise himself until i childishly pointed it out .
Kids will find any reason to pick on someone although its probably best off not to hand it to them on a plate.
I rather liked my Grandad's name - Basil - until I realised the baby's initials would be BJ. I vetoed it. Fortunately DC2 was a DD and we had a lovely name lined up.
Doesn't seem to have done Boris Johnson any harm. (Although technically I think his initials are actually something like ABDJ or similar - trust him to pick the dodgy initials!)
I would go for it if you can find a middle name but otherwise no.
I wouldn't do it tbh.
I wouldn't- sorry. We wanted to call our DD Vivienne until we realised that it would give her the initials VD.
Well seeing as we can't find another name we like, we will just change our surname ... easy
Having worked in a job where we had to initial everything I wouldn't- sorry!
I sign my initials on stuff all day long, and attendees at meetings are referred to by initials in the minutes. I am very glad my initials are not BJ. It is probably the worst I can think of, sorry!
