looking for something unusual and elegant for DD3

No Cornish heritage here, but I love the look and sound of Endellion.

What says the Mumsnet jury? (ps obv I know, but don't care about, about the Cameron usage...)

Not so keen, personally. Makes me think of cheese

I like it.

No.

Way too fancy

Doesn't sound in the slightest bit elegant to me. Sorry.

I like it, but can't imagine a child with the name as it seems too clunky.

Dandelion?

Another one who thought 'dandelion' or 'medallion'

Sounds like some form of homeopathic remedy.

RightUpMyRue · 11/11/2012 21:22

Sounds like a herb which grows in the hedgerow that wankers people like Hugh FW get excited about.

Not keen.

For a boy or girl?

What is it?

What is the Cameron usage?

As a name I dislike it, sorry.

Not keen, sorry. What would they be called for short? Endy? Lion?

noblegiraffe · 11/11/2012 21:34

Sounds like a village in a fantasy novel rather than a person. Like 'The hobbits passed through Rivendell, Rohan and Endellion in their quest for the Ring'.

I thought 'dandelion'. I wouldn't call it elegant especially as it is bound to be shortened. Delli?

Beamur · 11/11/2012 21:37

I wasn't sure if it was a boy or girls name.
It would be a bit too strange and unusual for my taste - not sure how you say it either.

Does it work with your other DC's names? It's one of those names that if I saw it on a register I'd get stressed about how to pronounce it and then privately think "poor kid"

It really does sound like an obscure wild herb to me I'm afraid OP

I prefer Endymion, if that's the sort of thing you like.

It sounds like a disease!
I've always liked Clowance personally.

Or Loveday.

Thewonderyears · 11/11/2012 21:52

It's a village in Cornwall, with a St in front of it. From wiki stuff it seems to mean fiery soul, but I don't know whether that's Cornish or something else.

Afaik, you would pronounce it en-DEL-ee-on

Yes another dandelion thought here.

Your poor child would be forever explaining it to people, both spelling and pronunciation. I wouldn't do it to the poor thing.

I thought you must be a Cameron admirer.

Startail · 12/11/2012 01:05

I'm really sory at first my sleepy dyslexic brain read that as Dandelion.

Now if it's Cornish villages your after Praze-An-Beeble is a good name.
