What do we think of Edgar? With Ed or Eddie as a nickname?

Do you think it will become popular?

If you like Ed or Eddie I prefer Edward or Edmund - I can't see Edgar becoming popular and it's not my cup of tea if I'm honest.

If you went with Edward you'd also have the option of Ted or Teddy as nicknames which I think work quite well for different ages

I did have both Edward and Edmund on my list but my partner is not keen on either. I also used to like Ted/Teddy, but they are everywhere now so have since gone off!

I just love the way Edgar looks and sounds. It's kind of geeky, but I find it dashingly handsome! Worry that it'll be the next big thing though.

I think Edgar is great and makes a refreshing change from all the little Edwards around. Edgar also works well in other languages. Great choice imo!

My kids loved these books and we went to see the author at a book festival and my son got to be Edgar when he got some of the kids to act out the characters - he still has a book signed to the "Best Edgar ever" :)

I have an Edgar. It's a brilliant name and usually gets nice comments, once people understand he isn't Ed short for Edward...

I know an Edgar from Lithuania. He's in his mid-20s.

When I first heard his name, I didn't think much of it. But that totally changed when I spoke to him. He's interesting, creative, thoughtful and a great guy :)

I met a baby Edgar the other day ( central London) .. First one I have ever met in 15 years of childcare. He was French. I really like it!

Thank you. I think it's The One. We were going to go with Otto, but I think we'll use it as a middle name.

I love it. But I'm a big fan of old fashioned names. Our son is Ned, he was nearly Edmund or Edgar but we decided to keep it short. Can't see it becoming really popular either.
