My favourites are Dexter, Marlo and Sidney.

Really dislike Hector - the meaning would put me off, as well as the lack of nice nickname (Heck shock).

I like Marlo and Hector.

To hector means to bully/torment and a hector is a bully! Not a nice association imo!!

Alfie has become very common and overused imo.

Sidney, Ansel and Marlo are gorgeous - classic but not overused.

I only know of girl Marlos... Arthur is gorgeous!

Alfie has become a little chavvy recently! Don't do it!

Hector!

"Tate is slang for potato" grin

Yes, I just realised cant really use Sidney! I ink 2 syllable names sound better with James and with a db surname.

Wrt Alfie - my DP really likes it, but I just don't see it as a grown up name, and I find Alfred too old. Nice for a boy, not sure for a man iykwim

I like Sidney, but you might want to avoid Sid James!

Also like Alfie (would use Alfred as full name), and quite like Marlo, Hector and Reece (not sure Reece James works so well, as you'd have the two 1-syllable names).

So top 3 would be Alfred/Alfie James, Marlo James and Hector James.

Tate is slang for potato, Brody and Dexter too surnamey, Arthur too old man, Ansel too similar to Hansel.

I like Axel.

Me and DP both like Marlo too

chipsandmushypeas Tue 02-Oct-12 16:19:35

Ack, those are two of my faves and the two DP really isn't keen on sad

I would spell Brody as Brodie.

That's probably my favourite.

Hector!

Tate is the other one I like from your list.

First dc due December and me and DP can't really decide still, will probably wait to meet him and then fully decide. Don't want a really traditional name as his middle name will be James and double barrelled surname. List I have so far:

Reece or Rhys
Dexter
Marlo
Hector
Sidney
Ansel
Arthur
Alfie
Tate
Brody

Thank you!
