Might finallly have a shortlist of 3!!
Opinions, please. ( I'm still worried Gabriel will become Gayboy ( Maybe I just know that's what would have happened at my old school!)

I have a Godson called Gabriel. He did have a patch of "Gabrielle" but other than that, ( in primary school,) not much teasing. He is at University now anyway. I think it is a really beautiful name. I like George too, and Albert. Albert is probably the most popular of the three, at least I know several Albies ( but no Berts ).

George. Good, solid, classic name.

Albert is ok.

Really don't like Gabriel.

Gabriel. Too many Georges already and I'm meh about Albert. What will you call him - Albie? Bertie? Al?

Love George (my beautiful, perfect Grandpa's name) and I love, love, love Gabriel (had it on my list for all three of mine but never managed to use it somehow) not wild about Albert but don't hate it.

George.

I too knew a 'Gayboy Gabriel' who was teased mercilessly :(

There are lots of Georges, it's the only one I wouldn't use. Gabriel is fabulous and the only boy I've ever met called that was lovely, outgoing, articulate and not a type to be bullied AFAIK. Albert is lovely too - family name for me. Albie and Bert/Bertie are great nicknames.

They're all nice names! :) Personally I'd go for George, then Albert, then Gabriel.

We've got an 11 day old Albert (although he's been Bertie since he was born!)

We also considered George but I didn't want a Fred & George (DS1 is Fred).

I like Gabriel but husband vetoed it very early on.

My vote is for George. Love it.

I do like Gabriel, not so keen on Albert.

Gabriel by a country mile (am biased though!) My Gabriel is 8 and has never encountered any smart arse remarks

Excellent responses, thanks everyone; might just pick one of the 3 out of a hat as none seem to have had a really negative response.
Just a final question, what do you call Gabriel for short?

Love Gabriel. It's always been on my list, and DH has got his choice (probably) this time but if we have another boy Gabriel will def be on the table.

Gabe for short.

Absolutely love Gabriel. I know a little Gabriel, a cute precious little boy. Definitely a nice name. I also like George, but George is very common IMO.

I too have a Gabriel and tbh it doesn't get shortened very often. A couple of acquaintances call him 'Gabe' which he doesn't mind but we don't use it. His nn at home is Mister (no idea why) but I personally love the name so don't want to shorten it (i am also biased!).

It wasn't on my list at all before I had him but when he was born he looked like a little old man so the more 'modern' (very loosely called) names didn't suit him somehow. My mum suggested it and I loved it - still do.

I also know a lovely George, but not keen on Albert (tbh).
