A little girl has joined DD's nursery.
Her name is CUPCAKE.

I suppose it is nicer than Fishfinger, or Potato.

(Oh. If the mum is a Mumsnetter: Hello mum of Cupcake!
So...
... cough...
...Are you going to the summer fair on Saturday? :))

How unique!

happystory · 10/07/2012 15:37

How......sweet

LittleWaveyLines · 10/07/2012 15:37

I don't know whether to do Shock or Grin!

StellaAndFries · 10/07/2012 15:38

Maybe her mum was a strawberry shortcake fan when she was a child :)

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 10/07/2012 15:39

I'm kinda like......hmm that's unique

Then the other part of me is saying....... That's got to be the pregnancy hormones

Pretty name for a little girl. But a woman?

kickingKcurlyC · 10/07/2012 15:40

And it probably isn't on the birth certificate.
But, it is still just silly.

«rummages in knicker drawer for judgey pants»

Cupcake.

kickingKcurlyC · 10/07/2012 15:44

I don't know. I'm just thinking "Surely that isnt on her birth certificate" but people are mad aren't they? So maybe it is!

QuickLookBusy · 10/07/2012 15:45

Oh for goodness sake.

What next a lemon drizzle, or fairy cake?

MrsHelsBels74 · 10/07/2012 15:45

How dare you sneer at my daughter's name on here Angry

(just kidding, it's not me!)

squoosh · 10/07/2012 15:47

Definitely her name and not a term of endearment?

MammaTonic · 10/07/2012 15:51

I wouldnt like my name to be Cupcake. What sort of NN would you have? Cup? Cuppy? Cuppa? Cakey-Cake? Baby Cake? Confused

kickingKcurlyC · 10/07/2012 15:53

It's on all the stuff, register, pegs, message boxes...
Cupcake Jones (but not Jones).

I did feel it would be too gossipy / sneering to ask the staff. I don't think I could keep the incredulity out of my tone of voice. Blush

Maybe I'll try to spot the parent, and start a conversation.

Cuppa is a nice nickname actually! Hmm. It is growing on me.

I hope she doesnt become diabetic.

lynniep · 10/07/2012 15:58

I likes it. I want to be called cupcake. CALL ME CUPCAKE!!

lurkingaround · 10/07/2012 16:01

Oh my.

PropositionJoe · 10/07/2012 16:02

It doesn't really pass the high court judge test, does it.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 10/07/2012 16:02

We should start a new thread for sibling names

Muffin
Doughnut
Tart Blush
Brownie

FootballFriendSays · 10/07/2012 16:04

Vol-au-vent would have been more edgy

Frontpaw · 10/07/2012 16:04

It has to be a nickname. Isn't it? Poor child. Surname Baker?

rainonmyparade · 10/07/2012 16:04

Maybe its just a nickname that all her family and friends call her. Her proper name could be Charlotte Elizabeth.

squoosh · 10/07/2012 16:07

Tch, how un-zetigeisty.

Cupcakes are so 2010. The child should be called Le Macaron or Whoopie Pie at the very least. Oh wait, does that make me sound very 2011?

whattodoo · 10/07/2012 16:10

Brilliant!

If I have any more, i'm going to go for chip, rich fruit, pecan pie or krispy kreme

mumnosbest · 10/07/2012 16:13

2012 got to be chocopop! Butterfly bun or french fany would be fun.

Amazed at how polite everyones being!
