What do you think when you first hear or see it?

I love it. It's one of my very favourite names. To me it sounds very 17th century.

I think cat. Then I think little girl.

Same as Shatners, sorry!

Lots of people do think 'cat'. That's not awful though is it? Better than conger eel or tape worm.

Cat. Especially as an acquaintance of mine insists on referring to her ickle pwincess Tabby kitten...

Yes, this is on The Evil Farcebook Hmm

Love love love this name. DH did not.

PS I was told DD's name is a horse's name, so the cat thing wouldn't bother me. It's not like you'd be called a child Fido or Whiskers.

Like it a lot but obviously shortening to Tabby or Tab would be off limits, so perhaps would not be practical.

I think of the little girl out of the TV programme Bewitched. She used to wiggle her nose, very cute!

I love the name though, sounds feminine and pretty Smile

I loved it when I was about 11. Now it makes me wince - twee & frilly

A comical name for a cat.

Think it's lovely.

I love it. If DS had been a girl there is a high chance he would have been a Tabitha! I also think Tabby as a nickname is lovely. Stephen King's wife is a Tabitha.

I have a baby Tabitha and we get so many compliments on her name. I happen to love cats so don't mind the feline association at all! Grin

Interesting HipHop, I hate what I consider to be frilly girls names although Tabitha doesn't fall into that category for me. I think frilly when I hear Arabella, Clarissa, Felicity . . . .

Frilly seems to be a state of mind!

I don't mind the cat connection ( but I also love Felix for a boy, so maybe this is revealing something about me...).

I also love Tabby and Tabs as nn.

It goes really well with our surname too (which is no mean feat) and DH doesn't hate it (which is no mean feat).

this makes me smile Sastra, Felix was also on our short list!

I love it, this is still my number one name if it's a girl, due in July, DP on the other hand will not entertain it at all, he can't get over the possibility of her nn being Tabby and therefore cat like. I don't think I'm going to be able to change his mind.

I quite like it. Makes me think of a twitchy nose. And then a cat.

Love it. Mind you I have come to realise that most of the names I like are characters from Jilly Cooper novels.
