Nicknames for Oscar

My OH is really keen on Oscar, but I hate the nickname Ozzy. Are there any other nicknames for Oscar??

I know nationally Oscar is quite popular at the moment, but locally there are no Oscars. So it could make it on to the short list if it wasn't for the nn thing.

Just call him Oscar, there's no need for a nickname.

Oscy is a lot better than Ozzy. It just the Ozzy Osbourne connection.

Have you thought of
Elliot/t
Issac
Oliver (might be too similar)
Theo (my fav)
Matthew
Daniel.

I have a Harvey & Morgan already.

No need for a nickname particularly one with the same number of syllables (i.e. Ozzy). I'd just call him Oscar, which is a great name. You might come up with a family nickname once he's born which has nothing to do with his given name or his friends at school might start calling him by his surname etc. No need to force it by creating an artificial one now. The Oscar I know is just Oscar.

Agree - Oscar, till something completely unrelated crops up of its own accord.

The one I know gets called Ozzy. I don't like it much either, I'm afraid.

i feel the same as you. love the name oscar but hate ozzy and think that it's inevitable that as a teenager friends will use a nickname, boo!

Another one with an Oscar here - he is just Oscar.
I sometimes call him Oskypie.

I have an Oscar. He is mostly Oz, sometimes Ozzy; occasionally he's Ozzy Bear, OzBoz, OzBob, Ozzio, or Oscarino.

p.s I though I hated Ozzy too, turns out I don't. Funny how these things pan out Grin

I just wanted to be armed with an alternative nn incase any family members started with the Ozzy thing.

My MIL can be qiute aggravating when it comes to my children names. My daughter was nn 'fatso' by her for sometime, even after numerous arguments over the nn. Then she would shorten my sons name so it sounded like a welsh girls name. So I just want to be ready with a 'we don't call him Ozzy we much prefer........'.

Not as though it probably will make much differrence to her!

I don't call any of my children by nn just there full name so to me Oscar would be Oscar.

Blimey! Fatso????? That's ridiculous. Sounds like it might be your MIL's turn to get her own insulting nickname... Angry

My ds is Oscar, he actually gave himself his own NN Occy, which is quite sweet.

The one I know gets called Oss rather than Oz, not heard him get call Oskie. I think he does get Ozzie from the boys at school.

I do like Occy! - very sweet.
