Yay or Nay?

What do you think?

ElectricSoftParade Thu 02-Feb-12 21:22:26

Nay, unless you really like it.

SeaweedNK Thu 02-Feb-12 21:24:29

Makes me think of cream crackers and ribena...

DialMforMummy Thu 02-Feb-12 21:26:11

Nay. Too try hard.

ReneeVivien Thu 02-Feb-12 21:28:57

Nay, I'm afraid. Jacinta better.

redrubyshoes Thu 02-Feb-12 21:29:21

Errm no. Makes me think of a wholegrain savoury biscuit or an order of nuns.

She would also be called Jackie as a nn which is a name that is beyond awful IMO.

But if you really, really love it then.......

NO!

AgathaPinchBottom Thu 02-Feb-12 21:32:39

Hmmm. I quite like bean as a nickname.

ohbugrit Thu 02-Feb-12 21:34:36

Oh dear God no. ..

redrubyshoes Thu 02-Feb-12 21:41:52

I thought Bean as a nn as well. Double no on that account.

hohohoshedittant Thu 02-Feb-12 22:22:53

No.

I think Jacobi (nn Cobi) is better if you require a girly version of Jacob, but that's also horrible.

PopcornBiscuit Thu 02-Feb-12 22:52:39

I like it.

LizzieChickens Fri 03-Feb-12 00:26:29

Not to my taste, no. Kind of like... Fredina or Jackina.

JasperJohns Fri 03-Feb-12 00:37:07

Is it made up? It sounds it.

No.

No!

ThePoorMansBeckySharp Fri 03-Feb-12 03:30:16

NO.

AnEcumenicalMatter Fri 03-Feb-12 05:03:10

Awful.

FairyArmadillo Fri 03-Feb-12 05:20:51

No. Please, no.

JuluLu Fri 03-Feb-12 05:50:02

Anything that could possibly be shortened to "Bean" should be avoided at all costs, IMO. It smacks of "we named our baby after the twee nickname we used for the bump".

Vom.

ninedragons Fri 03-Feb-12 06:17:17

Definitely a no, I'm afraid.

Some feminised male names are great (Philippa was high on our list) but some just sound like the parents thought the baby was going to be a boy, had a surprise in the delivery room, and couldn't be arsed to think of a girl's name.

Or worse, that they desperately wanted a boy and were disappointed with their girl.

Minstrelsaremarvellous Fri 03-Feb-12 15:11:25

My friend has a DD with a middle name Jacoba after her south african grandmother - I think it's marvellous!

seeker Fri 03-Feb-12 15:12:51

Ghastly. And it makes it look as if you wanted a boy and didn't have a girl's name ready.

lisaro Fri 03-Feb-12 15:13:22

Absolutely hideous 'name'. Please don't.

Janoschi Fri 03-Feb-12 15:24:40

Love it. There are some graves in Warriston Cemetery in Edinburgh with names like that. Duncana was one I recall, Robina and Jamesina.... All Victorian and suggesting major gender disappointments at birth!

But I really do like Jacobina. Binny is a sweet nickname.

HappyHoppyHippy Fri 03-Feb-12 15:25:48

Nooooooo

B52s Fri 03-Feb-12 15:38:41

Jacoby is fine, Jacobina is awful. IMVHO

Abcinthia Fri 03-Feb-12 15:40:53

No, sorry.
