hi all. after 4 long years and just before our tests started we went to travel (bum) around france with our surfboards! Low and behold a jumping bean in my tummy was made (20 weeks) we think on the ile de re. how special (well they all are i know) anyway am looking for french names, not too french i guess so it would seem odd, but french all the same. any ideas? feels like a boy whatever that means, but it may be a girl?!!!

Wow; first of all a big congrats :-) a few names that came to mind were:
Boy:
Anton
Christophe
Jules
Louis
Marc
Serge

Girl:
Constance (used to work with a lovely girl with a lovely name)
Marion
Monique
Sylvie
Valerie

That's a few French names that aren't too 'french'. Have fun deciding.

My eldest was conceived in Normandy, near falaise, birth place of William the conqueror, so he is William.

Congratulations!

I was conceived in Nice, but I don't have a French name. I once joked to my mother that I'd have a 'Fabrique en France' stamp tattooed on my bum - she thought that was very funny!

Magali for a girl, Alexandre for a boy. Unless there is a special French pronunciation of Duncan.

i am so convinced that it is a boy that I am finding the girls names much easier to like! Pixie i love Mireille. catinboots - i will be looking for striped babygrows won't i!!! shit still not the wiser so far boywise we quite like Beau, Sonny, did like Reuben but think it may be a bit posh for us.. Cobyn not very francais...aargh will keep reading over the suggestions and something may grow on me, trouble is when you know of someone with the name it can really make you not want the name!

Vivienne for a girl. Vivi for short (emphasis on second vi). I love this name, and its meaning. French but not too French (Vivienne Westwood is who it reminds me of, and she reminds of England).
