Does Sam sound silly when the surname begins with an M?

I love the name Sam. Not so keen on Samuel, and even if I went with Samuel it'd probably get shortened to Sam.

Does it sound ridiculous with a surname beginning with M? For example. Sam Mulberry. Will it sound like Sammul Berry over the phone etc.?

I can't work it out because I'm so familiar with my surname it sounds distinct. Opinion is divided in RL

It sounds really good with a 2 syllable surname, that does not have an 'a' as a second letter. Sam Mulberry is fine, but Sam Mann is not so good, neither is Sam Manley. As long as it doesn't rhyme, it's ok. Sam is a great name for a boy.

I know a Sam Mitchell and I don't think it spunds strange at all - in fact I never even thought about it till I saw this thread.

The m on the end of Sam sounds different (longer) to the M at the beginning of a surname, I think, so not too much of a problem.
