Tallulah?

My DH loves this and really really wants to name our DD it. I like it too, the sound of it, potential for shortened versions etc, but am more aware / bothered than him that plenty of people won't like it. I had my first choice for DS and this time I don't really have an absolute favourite so it seems a bit mean to veto DH's preference just because I'm worried about what others will think.

Thoughts please?

Sorry but I do not like it. I think it sounds unpleasant and stripperish.

I know one little girl called this and it's very sweet - I think she gets called Lulu.
It does have connections to women of 'ill repute' though.

Nasty for the reasons others have given :-(

I think it is beautiful

I can see it's appeal but the stripperish element would stop me using it too.

I love it, dd4 was supposed to be either a Tallulah or a Darcey but actually looked like neither.

It reminds me of the song from Bugsy Malone.
I think it is one of those names that sort of defines a character - more of a creative type than a lawyer or a doctor.
I think you'd need to meet her first to see if Tallulah suits her?

Too much of a 'stripper' name for me too. So not one I would use. However, if you both like it then go for it.

Trashy.

Sorry.

Hmm it feels a bit along the lines of Lolita or similar to me.

Sounds both high and low class, nothing in between, so perhaps depends on who she'll be hanging around with? Bit like Venetia on the one hand Alisha on the other, perhaps. Lulu / Lula are lovely nicknames.

Give her a sensible middle name so she has a choice later?

I love the name but DH won't even consider it. It would be my first choice for soon to be here DD2.

I love it, but dh vetoed it for our dd. I still call her tallulah belle as a pet name often, though it has no resemblance to her actual name. Smile

Thanks for the feedback. I actually feel so sad every time someone says it's awful that it's made me realise how much I like it! I knew they'd be the stripper comments but I just don't see it myself at all. Lottiegb your comment makes sense, thanks. The middle name will be Jane. Six more weeks to go so I'll keep thinking...

Thanks again.

A definite no. I agree that it makes me think of a stripper/lapdancer,while also being too 'cutesy' and it has an ugly sound.

That was apparently bad timing on my part.Blush

LaFille that made me snort!

I know a new baby called this, and while I didn't like it at all when I first read the birth annoucement, I now think Lula as she's known is sweet.
