Got a girl name all picked out but really, really struggling with boys. There are 0 names I absolutely love, 0 names I really like, just a list of names I kind of like. Need help :(

My only criteria is outside top 100, pref outside top 500 - and I'm in America so the most popular vary wildly from the UK.

Here is my list of "meh I guess if push came to shove I would pick one of these out of a hat" - comments welcome and suggestions HUGELY appreciated. I suppose I like literary inspired names and some nature names.

Silas
Beckett
River
Julian
Jude
Theo (number 700-odd in US popularity!)
August (tacky if born in July? Or indeed August?)
Sawyer
Quinn
Jett
Beau
Toby
Sage

I love Beckett, River and SawyerSmile ...Julian nn Jules too.

Not a fan of Beau, August or Quinn I find them rather girly I'm afraid. Silas is okay, but does conjure up sinister thoughts for meGrin

Jude and Theo are nice. I absolutely abhor Jett and Toby (too canine). Sage is lovely, but again I feel more suited for a girl.

Atticus is another fab literary name for your list.

I am the same but with girls names.

Have loads of boys that I like and not one girls.

Just found out we are having a girl as well so really need to start thinking!

Silas Ok, don't love.
Beckett Very nice, I don't know any. (I'm in the US too)
River I really like this, actually. I always wanted to use it but my surname renders it impossible.
Julian Ok, but I know so many girls named Julianna, etc, that it seems girly to me.
Jude Ok.
Theo Ok, prefer Teddy
August I really like August, love Augie as a nn for a little boy!
Sawyer Ok but a bit "common" here and starting to be used for girls. I loved Sawyer on Lost though!
Quinn Not bad.
Jett Not too keen, sorry!
Beau Ok. I know a few nice Beaus
Toby Meh. Not bad.
Sage I only know girl Sages.

Hmm... Asa? I love Asa! Pronounced Ay-SUH like we do in the US, though, not Acer. :)

Henry I like

Theodore (then the option of Teddy or Theo). My nephew is called Theo but personally I prefer Theodore so you have the option.

Toby I love

Really don't like August or Augie as a nickname - I live in the US and know 4 the same age as my oldest DS (who is 3).

Quinn I quite like

Am a bit meh at the rest of the names.

I think Quinn (I'd put Quentin on bc), Silas and Beckett are all really nice and not too widely used already. Henry seems very popular esp shortened to Harry.

Only like Henry out of your list I'm afraid.

How about Jared, Sonny or Rory?

Theo

Most of your choice are awful, sorry!

Awful? Really? Sad

I think it's a fab list! I agree with you about boy's names - we were really stuck (and had a dd in the end) but both of our favourite names - Theo and Henry - are on your list! Also think Beckett and Sawyer are great names.

I think you list is lovely. The ones I'd personally avoid are the mega popular ones (in the UK at least) including Theo and Harry/Henry.

I particularly love Jude, Quinn/Quentin, Julian/Jules and Sawyer.

Silas - not keen
Beckett - not keen
River - fine if you like hippyish names (I do)
Julian - like it
Jude - fine
Theo (number 700-odd in US popularity!) (really??) one of my favourites
August (tacky if born in July? Or indeed August?) I see this as more of a girl's name, tbh. Augustus maybe?
Sawyer - no
Quinn - love this - have a friend who has a son called this
Jett - no
Beau - s'ok
Toby - like this
Sage - bit unisex, would waver on whether it was boy or girl if I saw it written down
Henry - one of my choices for DS (not the one we chose)

I like Quinn, Toby and Jude (although the latter is a little feminine perhaps and close to Judy).

Me and DH LOVE Silas but have since gone off it when he was the nutter serial killer in Hollyoaks! I really like Beau to

Do people really name their boys Sonny? Confused Here it's a joke redneck name, like Cletus or Jim Bob.

I really like the name Silas. It makes me think of Silas Marner.

None of the others would make my shortlist though.

Love Silas, Quinn and Toby.

I too find Sonny a bit 'nicknamey', like Buddy. I don't know any real life Sonny's but I've seen the name liked by some on other threads here.

Tis beautiful.
