It is a running joke that I would call by first DS after Big Bird (yep I love Sesame Street) now DC3 is on the way and DC1 and 2 are both girls I couldn't. DD1 is Alice after Snuffy's sister and DH got DD2

Now DH has vetoed the whole Big Bird thing (the D word was mentioned if we did) But he has agreed to thinking about something else from that amazing show so. Can I please call upon you all:

Ernie - Can't think of anything long as Ernie is just Ernie
Bert - Don't like Robert unfortunatly
Cookie Monster - his original name was sid
Oscar (the Grouch)
Grover
The Count
Elmo

Anyone got any ideas (yes I am being serious)

Elmo is an actual name as in St.Elmo patron saint of Sailors (his full name was Erasmus but he was known as Elmo)

So you could just use Elmo.

Bert could be short for Albert (or Ethelbert lol)

Grover - Cleaveland was a US president but I think maybe that is taking it a bit far

You could just go with Elmo as notdarrell said. it is actually quiet cool

Oscar is fine as a name and you get your who sesame st thing

Albert and Robert I don't like. But you could do and some of these are horrible Norbert, Herbert, Gilbert etc

Sid is horrible

Do not use Aloysius

The count is not useable - sorry

Ernie you could have Ernest (which is horrible) but you could do any E name eg Enzo nn Ernie could work or names of that ilk

I've had a futher think

How about one of the human characters?

Mr Hopper was Harold
Then you had David and Gordon and Susan.

Lewis comes from Aloysius but you would have to really explain that one

Or James nn jim after Henson. Or Joan or lloyd

Also on the muppets website there is now a Zoe and an Abby (which is probably too similar to Alice for you) and a Bruno and a Betty Lou and a Gladys Here

But guess you want old school ones?? there is now one called captain Vegetable what has the world come to????

I like The Count....like Phoebe from Friends, I think it would be cool to have a child with "The" in its name...

Caroll Spinney is the original puppeteer for Big Bird, and has been from the very beginning. He's a man but I don't know how you feel about Caroll as a boy's name.

Cookie Monster sometimes plays a character named <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.ie/imgres?q=alistair+cookie&hl=en&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=cOlYcwJiW-NwGM:&imgrefurl=muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Alistair_Cookie&docid=qEfkPfxdjk0_aM&w=300&h=230&ei=jJBfTqPdHIeN-wbq9dDoAQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=152&vpy=137&dur=968&hovh=184&hovw=240&tx=142&ty=109&page=1&tbnh=138&tbnw=180&start=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&biw=1232&bih=800" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">"Alaistair Cookie" for "Monsterpiece Theatre".

I've always thought that <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.ie/imgres?q=herry+monster+sesame+street&hl=en&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=GEWA62lQ1VYlqM:&imgrefurl=muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Herry_Monster&docid=vmwXVX82MX7mcM&w=420&h=280&ei=x5BfTpPKEouM-wb4k_H_AQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=152&vpy=104&dur=16&hovh=183&hovw=275&tx=203&ty=143&page=1&tbnh=153&tbnw=215&start=0&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&biw=1232&bih=800" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">Herry Monster was underrated.

But I think that the best option would be Oscar. He's a very famous, very Sesame character, but it's a great name in its own right and the kid wouldn't have to explain where it came from and endure the Hmm Shock looks that 'Big Bird' would get him.

(I loooooooove Sesame Street).

Oops, should have previewed. Sorry about first sentence - obviously if he's the original puppeteer, he has been from the beginning! Blush

You could definatly get away with Oscar or Alaistair obviously

I think Elmo only as a mn
