Hello,

Our girls name is Leah (Sophia possibly as a second option in case Leah doesn't fit). Our surname is Friedmann.

Boys are slightly more problematic. I am an inveterate shortener, so a good shortening is essential. Preferably a Hebrew name. I think vowel-sounding word endings are the best at running on to our surname, rather than consonant ones. Anyway, here is our list - please comment and suggest any others!

Jonah
Nathaniel
Seth
Saul
Theodore
Jude

Thanks in advance...

Anyway, here are some names I like-
Arlo
Innes

I like all your suggestions but think Theodore goes better with your surname than any of the others.

My fave name on your list is Jonah though.

Jonah - Nice, lots of good NN
Nathaniel - ok, ish
Seth - I like lots, but struggles with no long version for when you are really annoyed with him Wink
Saul- don't like
Theodore - I like lots, loads of NN
Jude - don't like

And I'll put Josiah (Jed, Jo) and Gideon (Gids, Giddy) up for comment.

Saul and Jude i adore! Definately my faves on your list!

Jonah is lovely too and i would love to have a Seth but him indoors would never allow it!

Theodore is a great name, but sadly my daughter is constantly a chipmunk anyway!

Nathaniel - not for me!

Isaac
and others people have mentioned

Samuel

I think Theodore is a bit of a mouthful - if you live somewhere that TH is pronounced as F , like here, then he would easily become Feodore Friedmann.
that would drive me a bit batty.

Out of your list of names op I like Jude best and really dislike Seth, has a real lanky haired metal head vibe to it for me!

Sophia Leah with your surname

I'm not keen on any of your suggested names, tbh but if I had to choose I'd go for Seth.

I love them all, faves are Seth and Saul unless you have a family tencdency to lisp or stammer, then I'd go for Nathaniel NN Nat.

Jonah -- love, and would go well with your surname
Nathaniel -- like a lot, also like nn Nat
Seth -- makes me think of snakes, and hissing. The TH of Seth and the F of Friedmann require a bit too much adjustment of the tip of the tongue when they meet.
Saul -- nice, a good strong name; sounds good with Friedmann.
Theodore love very nice with surname. Theo as a nn would be nice too.
Jude -- love, again very nice with surname.

Would you consider
Solomon
Isaac
Ezra

I like Solomon as well, and Sol Friedmann sounds lovely.

Leo
Milo
Hugo
Inigo
Arlo all sound great with Friedmann, if not strictly Hebrew they do sound 'right' on a Jewish boy!

What about Arthur and you could call him Artie?

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone, I also like Solomon and will be adding that to the list! DH and I have fallen hard for Jonah so good to see it getting the general thumbs up.
