YES IT IS.

It's a surname - why would you call your child 'son of Jack' (unless he is!) Jack by itself is much nicer.
(also, yes to the C question)

I have a v classy friend with a Jackson. He was going to be Arthur but there was some story about her waters splattering up the wall during labour and the pattern looking like a Jackson Pollock which led to jokes and the name stuck.

I may stick with Rafe or Isaac........

At least you spelled it correctly and not Jaxon.

I like it but I guess I do have dodgy taste / I like American names.

It's classier than Kai and Jayden. I know a fair few middle-class Jacksons. It's more Harper/Chester.

Its nickname Jack is certainly very common.

Awful name, and very American sounding to boot!

Rafe is a poncey name

I think of America....Jackson's a town. "Going down to Jackson" is a song too!

I like it. Have you read the Kate Atkinson books.
Jackson Brodie is just fab.

Horrible imho, sorry. But Rafe is awful too.

I love the name and all four of my sons have real traditional older names. Go with your heart and what you like best

SandStorm · 18/05/2011 22:53

I quite like Jackson.

Does nobody else think of Michael Jackson or Jackson 5 when they hear the name Jackson?

Report
PegPolkadot · 18/05/2011 23:01

Not as chavvy as Jaxon in DS's class

PrincessScrumpy · 19/05/2011 11:45

Avoid names that are really surnames - always chavvy

Report
Jojay · 19/05/2011 11:46

Is it chavvy? Yes, IMHO
