Got BFP today - what do you think of . . . . .

Rita, Beryl and Sally!
It is still very early days, and I am hoping it sticks, but I can't help thinking about names to take my mind of miscarriage (had one in Sept and Feb)
I am currently crushing on Rita and Sally.
What do you think - I also cannot think of a good mn for Rita.
They will not be 'the next big thing' will they - don't want to pick the new Ruby!

No, no, yes.

I know a couple of baby Ritas and the other mums make sarky comments about the name :( But I don't particularly like it either.

Beryl the Peril.

Sally's nice though.

I thought of Corrie Grin (Although don't think they have a Beryl!)

Not to my taste but I have notoriously dodgy taste in names, I do like some old fashioned names though and loved Elsie about 10 years ago - everyone laughed at me, but its popular now so Ha!

Just wanted to say good luck and I hope everything goes well.

I like Beryl. Rita is OK if a little harsh. Sally is a bit girly.

Bugger! Did.t think of Corrie - I don't watch it, so it does not spring to mind immediately! At least I would not have Rita AND Sally!

Dh has just reminded me of Shirley - which I adore too, this is high on the list.
Sometimes I wonder if I should go for something more sensible lke Miriam. I love it less, but maybe a bit more timeless.
But I do love Shirley, Rita, Beryl and Sally.
My list is going to be huge at this rate!

What about Vita instead of Rita, very elegant me thinksSmile

Not a fan of Beryl or Sally I'm afraid!

Oh yes, I like Vita a lot, much better than Rita. And Miriam is lovely too, or Maryam.

Vita - good. Rita - my 60 year old aunt.

Sally - the ninny, sensible one at school. (Or am I thinking of Mallory Towers?)

Beryl - would be good for a cat, but a bit mean for a baby.

Miriam is beautiful and definitely the best.

Not keen on Rita, Shirley, Beryl, all make me think of blue rinses and also Corrie, but maybe I am just not trendy enough and in 20 years time when Beryl is the new Ruby you will have a very cool twenty-year old.

Sally - ok, bit meh

Congratulations by the way

I think Shirley is lovely.

Congratulations! They're definitely not going to be The Next Big Thing, I haven't seen most of those names pop up on the lists for a while. Bollocks to sensible, sensible is what gets you the 5th Charlotte in a given classroom.

My second daughter (yet to be born) will have the middle name Rita to honour her great grandmother (my first is called Carmen to honour her other one)

Ignore the naysayers, besides, who wants to be a Cecilia/Ophelia/Ottilie/Iomgen/Bethany/Emily clone.

Love both Rita and Sally.

Oh Hedwig, I remember you from another thread and I've plumped for Hedy in the end

So she'll be a Hedy Rita, channelling 1940s Hollywood. Or t'mill, depending on your outlook.

Apols diversion.

Sally is the only decent one. Have you considered Gloria? I loved that name, but DH wouldn't consider it for our DD Ruby.
DD was at school with a girl called Beryl. Her parents pronounced it Burial. We were in Thailand.
