We already have a William (6), Cecelia (3) and an Isobel (18 months)...dh not too sure as he used to live on an Adelaide avenue!

I like it!

It's been mentioned a few times on the WilliKat names thread.

It is a lovely name and would love to name my potential daughter that but given that I live in Australia and it is the name of a capital city I won't be able to.

Adele is lovely but I'm not keen on Adelaide

It was my Grannie's name and she absolutely hated it (she died 25 years ago aged 95 so you can see she was named at the end of the 19th century when it may have been a bit more common!).

She was lovely and I've always liked it as a name although I've never known a another real life Adelaide.

Agree with Lions that Adele is nice. Adelaide reminds me of Neighbours.

I really like it. I'd be more inclined to use it as a middle name, but it's pretty.
I think Adele would be better as a first name.

But there are millions of Adele's out there; go on, be different!! ;)
Unless you're Australian.

Misread your original post.

As long as you don't live there now it's fine. I know a Thomas who lives on Thomas Street.

Much as I love Adelaide from the Sally Lockhart books I don't think it's a very pretty name. "laide" is French for "ugly" and I can never quite forget that when I see the name Adelaide, or that it begins with something that sounds like "addled".

Adelina is nice. Adelaide sounds a bit like a fizzy drink.

It's OK, but I prefer Adeline.
