Rose?

My DH really likes Rose. It is probably the best name he has come up with so far, but I am not sure. Is it boring? Common? We have quite a grand surname (think: Palmer-Tomkinson) so it needs to fit with that.

What does everyone else think? Thank you Smile

I'm hoping for a Rose if this one is a DD Grin

DH isn't quite as convinced as he feels like it sets the child up with lots of pre-conceptions based on the name - a bit like Grace (which I also love). I just think it's a beautiful, classy and timeless name.

I don't mind it but its ubiquitous round my parts. And a former neighbour used to walk round our building barking at her daughter like she was a dog: 'Rose, Rose, Rose, stop that, Rose, I'l give you 10 seconds, Rose, Rose, Rose ROSE ROSE ROSE' every morning on the way to the childminder and it's put me off the name forever.

Love it. I have a friend with a 'Rose' and it's lovely.

One of the most beautiful classic names of all time.

Beautiful, all the lovelier for not adding to it (Rosa, Rosie, etc.).

Off to have a look at your choice...

Thanks Prinpo. I think I have decided on Rose for a middle name.

Rose is beautiful and often relegated to middle name, its a stunning stand alone first name!

My daughter is Rose Marie. I wanted it to be Rosa Marie, but my family vetoed it as too catholic (even though hubby's family are Catholic, go figure?) - but if you think Rose is too boring, go with Rosa... I love both. My daughter looks exactly like an English rose too - so it is a great classic name.

Beautiful name I do prefeer the Rosa unlike Prinpo I dont feel that is "adding to it" but Rose is lovely on its own

No not common imo she wont meet many others

I love it, but am a little biased! Never met another one, and only ever heard of it as a middle.name which I think is a shame.

We have had no end of compliments on dd's name, and she really suits it. (8 mo.) We chose it because it is classic, pretty, feminine without being weak and washy. Is a real name, just not often used so still a little unusual without being weird or tempt bullying in later years! She has a slightly more normal middle name (Amelia) that she could use if she really hated Rose for whatever reason
