Finally found a name that both DH2B and I like:

Lara

DH2B favourite name is Laura, but could not use it due to both family and friends called Laura.

I initially dismissed Lara thinking of a girl called Lara from University, who I didnt particularly like, but then I recalled that I could barely remember her, or even the reason I disliked her.

l think of Lara from Dr Zhivago rather than tomb raider. I think it is a strong name, easy to spell, and not too common.

Do you think Lara is okay? DH2B and I are both tall blond with blue eyes, and pale skin. Do you think Lara would suit a pasty blond? Also we both have family members with red hair (my mother and brother and DH2B's cousin), so chance she could be a red head.

We are a welsh english mix. Second name would be Faye.

I think it's a fabulous name. But then I may be biased as it's DD1's name.

I've never met another child Lara and only one adult Lara. When I named her, I was a bit concerned that everyone would think I named her after Lara Croft, but in fact, everyone said, "Oh, Dr Zhivago, how lovely".

It also has the advantage of being easy to spell and short, so when your dd is in reception and has to write her name it will only take 5 mins instead of 10! She will be very grateful to you for this.

Thanks for the comments. I never thought we'd find a name we both like.

Faye is out as being a second name - as our initials would spell LFG - and DH thinks LFG gas. Not so bothered about second, just so thrilled we have a first.

The gas is LPG!!

Thats what I thought Toomanyponies - but DH2B referred to Landfill Gas. He is a minerals surveyor, so lots of initials seem to have meanings. Hmm

No I don't like it, think it sounds harsh. Not very pretty at all.

I just thought of Dr Zhivago. Romantic and pretty name.
Tomb Raider didn't cross my mind.
