I'm looking for names which aren't too typically girly and suggest a damsel in distress i.e Pansy, Poppy, Gabriella etc...these are all very nice but just aren't for me....according to me dh I'm looking for names with a bit of "spunk". We already have a Ben(Benjamin) and a Harry...oh and it's twin girls!! So i need two names :)

Have you looked at film/fiction heroines? Eg Scarlett (O'Hara), Esme (Weatherwax), Lyra (Belacqua),

Generally powerful or bad girl female names:
Eve
Cleo
Lilith
Lola
Seren (Welsh for star)

Or unisex nicknames or surname names:
Alex
Reese
Cassidy
Gibson (like the guitars)

Oooh, I just saw that you're having twins (you're brave!)

So....Ramona and Esther.

Or, y'know, Ramona and some other name. But Ramona, definitely Ramona. Look, if you don't call one of 'em Ramona I'm going to be really cross, ok?

Olivia I had a Lyra before Miss Dahl so you have my permission to use itWink. I also wanted a girlpower name so it was perfect.

Pippa's a bit pony club isn't it? And Tess of the D'Urbervilles was a bit of a tragic victim of cirumstances rather than an aspirational heroine.

Well I have a 2yr old Harriet (Hattie) and she has attitude! I would love a Zara and an Agnes too.

In a similar vein to Ramona, I've only ever met hard-as-nails Rhonas.

Also, these are all quite 'robust' names IMO:
Nina
Clara
Erica
Georgia
Lola
Nancy
Tegan
Imogen
Erin
Eliza
Freya
Tara
Tessa
