I love this name but am slightly worried that it would sound like 'Ailsa' (from Home and Away!) when people hear it said.
What do you think?

I'm afraid I just thought of Elsa the Lion from Born Free Grin but that may just be my age!! I did love the film and have very positive if somewhat feline feelings towards the name by the way

ooh, I love this name. And really like the nn Elsie too. I don't think it has any home and away connotations!

I already know a girl called Elsa so didn't think of anything else when I read it.

I like it but it was my aunts name so has a personel connection for me.

Not Elsie though! Elsa sounds elegant and cool. Elsie sounds like Les Dawson dressed up. Imo.

Very pretty and I really like it. Only drawback is it sounds a little too girly, rather than suitable for an adult, too. Agree with bob about Elsie.

Beautiful name, reminds me of born free aswell. I think its a good all round name for any age. Pretty but also grown up.

I like the Born Free connection. It's a favourite film of mine and always makes me cry Blush

I really like it. It's the name of a character in a Fiona Walker book and it really stuck in my mind as a great name.

I like Elsa but would use Elisabeth and her full name.

I have an Elsa who is going to be 2 next month, wasn't sure of the name at first-(very long list and rubbish at making decisions) absolutely LOVE it now. Great name, however being in Scotland most people do think its Ailsa-doesn't bother me though, when you tell people its actually Elsa they then comment that its a much nicer name.

Lovely elegant name, I really wanted for Dd2 but Dh didn't... Go for it!

On my shortlist too! It does remind me of Born Free too but that doesn't worry me as it is an amazing film, which I would actually like to watch again, maybe it will convince me one way or another!
I like lots of 'a' names at the moment, so my others with an 'a', all on my shortlist, are Eliza, Elsa and Isla, probably in that order.

I have an Elsa and some people do mishear/mispronounce her name as Ailsa but most do get it right.

I love Elsa. Would have been DD2s name if I'd ever had a DD2!

I like it because of Born Free. Love that film.
