I met a Dontae (not Dante) who was about two.

Blousie? Really?

I was watching a home makeover programme where the little girl was named Beaver. Could not believe my ears, but they said it several times.

Newton. But I quite liked it. It suited the little chap.

Blousie was a character in Bugsey Malone wasn't she?

Report
Linnet · 14/03/2011 11:38

Yes Blousie was in Bugsy Malone

Prunnhilda · 14/03/2011 11:42

It wasn't Biba, was it? Instead of Beaver.

I am always a bit Hmm about names that have been overheard. Surely a lot of them are just nicknames (Blousie?)

Report
devonsmummy · 14/03/2011 12:48

Blousie was written down and said (repeatedly!)- so no doubt there

How ironic that you are ridiculing others name choices when you yourself are mummy to a Devon.

Report
ShowOfHands · 14/03/2011 12:51

I met a Murfee and Riio last week. Those spellings. Quite unusual I though.

thought

I didn't think it was a ridiculing thread. I'll leave if it is. Thought it was an 'unusual' names thread.

Oh and I saw the home makeover programme btw and sort of know the mum in rl. If it's the same one, she IS 'Biba'. Lovely name.

I think I watched that programme too and it was Biba but did sound like beaver!!

bigbluebump · 14/03/2011 12:56

What is the point of this thread - making fun of others' choices? Why?

And, wouldn't life be boring if we all called our children Jack and Grace?

Report
bigbluebump · 14/03/2011 12:57

And I once knew a lovely Bibiana, called Bibi for short.

Oh Biba's lovely. I know of an adult one (40s) and a child, who must be about 9 by now. Beaver though would be a bit daft Grin

I like Blousey. But then I like Bugsy Malone.

bigbluebump, I thought it was a discussion about unusual names you've heard. I like talking about names I've heard. I'm not making fun of others' choices.

I didn't get the feeling this was a name-bashing thread tbh.

I'm not telling the story of Barley and Broccoli again, but yes. Those children are in a classroom in this country somewhere

Oooh Biba is lovely. I have a cousin called Larry who is about 13 now and it really suits him. I also like Devon and agree with bigbluebump that life would be rather dull if we were all named the same. I think I will add Biba to my list for next DC (I just had my first DD 3 weeks ago! Grin)

There is a little boy called Wilder at DS4's nursery. I think it is a lovely name

I hate take the piss threads. I know I always say that and should stay away but I cant, I am drawn to them, DRAWN I tell you....

Its an affliction.

COme on, I think we all know where these threads go. It all starts off with polite references to 'unusual' names and ends up with Chardonaii's and Jaidon's mums in tears.

ALWAYS.

You lot cant help yourselves Grin

definately not meant as a 'lets laugh at these names thread'
as it has been noted I am mum to a Devon which some people find strange/funny/stupid
i just love baby names
